Background Muscat International Airport is the largest airport in Oman and the main hub of the national carrier Oman Air. Situated 32 km from Muscat, the airport carries more than 6.5 million passengers every year. The new terminal will have capacity of 12 million passengers a year.     Scope

    With increasing traffic and the requirement for aesthetic interiors, consultant required tiles that

    wouldactasacontrasttotheexistingthemelightinganddecorsintheterminalarea.Therichand

    boldcolouredtexturesofNewportandSlateporcelaintilesprovidedapleasingeffecttothearriving

    passengers.ThecombinationofdarkrusticfinishofSlateandsleektrendymoodsofNewportseries

    flooring reflectanelegant lookwitha touchofwarmth towelcome travellerat the territory.The

    highbreakingstrengthandmodulusofraptureofthesemodelshaveabilitytowithstandbothfoot

    andtrolleytrafficwhilegivingeccentricornamentationtotheplace.

    Results

    Theairportexpansionplanhad to reflect the internationalappealofbusyairportsworldwideand

    accordinglydesignerhadtoeffectsuchagrowth.Althoughbelievedtoberichintraditionalvalues,

    onewouldbeabletofeelthepotentialenergyvibesintheairofOmanwhilewalkingintheairport

    lobbyandterminalareawithRAKCeramicsproduct.
