Design concepts:-Creating a university climate while stressing on the Egyptian identity with local features.-Materializing the ideologies of the American liberal education in buildings.-Variety in architectural and urban vocabularies.-Considering environmental control by reducing energy cost and using local alternatives.-The college is designed to have one major axis on which lies number of plazas which creates spaces for student gatherings.

Site contents:1) AUC park; contains entertainment elements such as cafes, restaurants, shops and museums.2) Boundaries: Contains a green belt, around which lies the streets that lead to the entrances of the project which has a major role in campus design and orientation.3) North side: left on the green side for expanding possibilities.4) South side: includes the sports' fields5) East side: includes the major axis of the project which starts at the academic center going to the new city.6) West side: contains the main entrance of the project which lies next to staff's dorms.-The north west is considered the anchor point of the project that contains the celebratory entrance to the campus that contains most of the students activities and is considered a meeting point for those who are from the college and those who are from the outside. While the south end of the project contains all the physical activities, as if the project starts with the mental health and ends with the physical one.-Buildings are centralized in a clustered order around the main circulation axis which helps mixing between different students.-Building heights vary from two to three stories connected through secondary circulation elements.-The garden can easily be accessed from all the directions of the major axis, which includes shaded places.-Parking areas were divided as such; visitors park next to the gardens while students park next to the sports area and staff members park next to the west side of the campus

-Architectural elements:

-The library: located on the north side of the main plaza, in the center of the project, and is considered the cultural gathering of visitors and students, so it is considered the dominating visual element inside the project.-The library contains central reading rooms and other for computer readings.-Center of the university: located on the east side of the main plaza and designed to be easily accessible from car parking areas and other pedestrian routes.-It contains the main area of entertainment and seminar halls, daycare center and the student union.-The sports area: located on the east side of the project, it is used by the students, staff members and visitors as well.-Contains a gymnasium, a multipurpose hall, a swimming pool, and the ground floor contains the lockers and various administrative areas.-Student dormitories: located next to the main garden, the sports area and the center of the university.-Even though it's located inside the university it provides high level of privacy which is achieved by small gardens separating between buildings.-Expandable to contain twice as much units as it currently has.-The area also contains managerial and security units to maintain control and order on the dorms.-Academic center: contains the AUC square, which contains the information center, the student services, the university's art gallery.-Contains the university's administration

Layout and campus design:-The type of college campus is semi closed, which provides a good view from all the inner and outer rooms.-The buildings theme follow a traditional pattern, the urbanism however is more flexible and modern.-The outer elevations of the buildings are surrounded with trees to provide visual separation between the classrooms and the streets.-The campus contains pedestrian circulation roots, however no automatic circulation routes are provided within the campus.-The building are clustered in a U-shape pattern around the campus-The main architectural figure the building ahead of the campus where the student council is located and it's where the main entrance from the outside is.--

-Linear design pattern-Using levels, contours and roof gardens to increase the size of the green area-No vehicular circulation routes that passes through the campus-The main circulation route is like a datum line around which the buildings are distributed.
