Materials: 1 Cascade Venezia Worsted (color #130, 70% Merino wool, 30% silk), 16” circular #5, 16” circular #7, double pointed #7 needles Stitch markers Tapestry needle. Size: adult. Ribbing of hat measures 18” and stretches to 22”, length of hat is 10” Gauge: 5 sts. = 1”

Abbreviations: K= knit, p= purl, pm= place marker, tog= together, ssk= slip, slip, knit 2 slipped sts together. d-inc.= double increase (knit next stitch, do not remove from needle, yo, knit into same stitch.) Use #5 needle to cast on 96 sts, PM, join in round. Work k1, p1, ribbing for 1”. Switch to #7 needle. Round 1: * d-inc. p3, repeat* around.

Round 2: *p3, k3tog, repeat* around.

Round 3: *p3, d-inc., repeat* around

Round 4: *k3tog, p3, repeat * around

Repeat rounds 1 through 4, 7 more times.

Repeat rounds 1 through 3 once more.

Next round: [ (k3tog, p3) 6 times, PM ] four times.

The last marker placed marks the beginning of the round.

Decrease rounds (Switch to double pointed needles when necessary.) Round 1: [ssk, p2, (d-inc, p3) 4 times, d-inc, p1, k2tog ] 4 times.
