44--3. Connection of BIM3. Connection of BIM to CASBEEto CASBEE
In order to facilitate further dissemination and effective operation ofIn order to facilitate further dissemination and effective operation of“Design for Environment (DfE)” tools, it should be regarded a timelyand indispensable initiative to connect the both systems (i.e. BIMand CASBEE), which allows the input of design data into BIMproviding automatic assessment and display of CASBEE.
Autodesk, Inc. and USGBC, mother of LEED that is widely usedin the North America, developed a very innovative and attractivedemonstration model “Project Chicago” in 2007 as a future imagedemonstration model Project Chicago in 2007 as a future imageof integrating LEED into BIM.

1) CASBEE assessment results can be simultaneously1) CASBEE assessment results can be simultaneouslyprovided in accordance with the modeling, which allowsquick and interactive connection between planning/designingthe building and improving its environmental performance.
2) CASBEE assessment items requiring heavy loads so farfor designers (e.g. PAL value, Day-lighting ratio, etc.), will beautomatically scored.y
3) Relevant documents to submit to local authorities and/orthird party certification bodies can be automatically andsimply output.
4) CASBEE system can be improved and rationalized.

However, the load of assessors can be reduced to ca. 50%.
Issues to be considered:Issues to be considered:
1.CASBEE includes ca. 40% of qualitative assessment items. It is, therefore, expected to develop a specific CASBEE version f BIM di t tfor BIM direct assessment.
2.CASBEE includes assessment items of different expertise (e.g. architectural, structural, mechanical and landscape design). Current BIM tool (e.g. Revit Architecture) is, therefore, not yet enough compatible with this condition.
