Simon Bolivar’s mentor was a Frenchman Louis Peru de la Croix, who wrote a book in 1828 about his daily life with the Libertador: " public and private life of Simon Bolivar" During 1940 , Colombian government started a project of declaration the house as national monument. In 1946 by the order number 8 national government bought the house and gave it as Historical and Archeological National museum of Santander running by Local History Academia.

Bolivar`s house is located on “Calle de la Iglesia” one tof the two main Street by the time as well close to central market too.The house belonged to a whelty family whose gave hospitality to Simon Bolivar; it also was a sign of political and financial power.

Since ending of nineteen century until middle of twenty century the house was used as a Telephone Center (first of city), Family Residence, Military Base, Soto Hostel and even it was a cigarret Factory.

the bolivar house was one of the many homes “Tapia”and clay tile that rose in Bucaramanga was conducted in 1778. this house belonged to Manuel Mutis Bossio.The “ Tapia” is an ancient technique consisting of building walls with wet clay, compacted using a formwork to form it.

this house is the recognition of its architectural attributes, typical of the colonial era. , has outstanding design features, most notably the hall that forms a high and wide entrance, the stable (destroyed by the enlargement of the road 36 in 1965) and double cloister (two courtyards) that still retains the rooms and dining room.

The bolivar house have original features such as the distribution of rectangular windows, wooden turned balusters, style of the early nineteenth century
