• Welcome students to your classroom.• This course is designed to enrich

students’ knowledge of History (social studies). The curriculum used provides content necessary to build a basic foundation in the subject.

• In addition to the goals, you are required to use critical thinking, creativity, practice and imagination to learn the content.

• History learning requires commitment on your part.

• Organization and a positive attitude are also very helpful.

• Enter class on time and prepared to work.

• Be in your assigned seat before the tardy bell rings.

• Bring all required materials to class.

• Follow directions the first time they are given.

• Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

• Do not bring cell phones or other electronic devices not permitted by the students’ JPS handbook.

• Students are required to attend class at their scheduled time.

• Cutting class will result in referral to the administrator.

• Time on task, which includes being present, is essential for making good grades.

• Students are to enter the classroom quietly and in dress code.

• Go directly to your desk and take out your materials.

• Take out homework and turn it in.

• Sit quietly, review notes, and be prepared for instruction to begin.

• Once the teacher begins lecturing, pay close attention and take notes.

• It is the students responsibility to ask for makeup work upon returning from absences.

• Excused absences, tardies, or dismissals will be allowed to earn 100% credit if work is completed within five days.

• Make-up tests will be given before school, between 7:00-8:00 am unless instructed otherwise.

• If you should have questions about the make-up work, wait until the end of class to ask.

In order to asses students understanding of units taught, students will be given weekly quizzes, chapter/objective tests, classwork, homework and projects. Rubrics will be used in the grading of assigned projects.

• Homework is due at the beginning of each class.

• Homework must be placed in the daily assignment basket.

• There is absolutely no talking during exams.

• If you need anything from the teacher, simply raise your hand and wait to be addressed.

• If your eyes are wandering, the teacher will assume you are cheating and you will receive a zero.

• You are to remain quiet until all exams are completed.

• Quizzes will be administered by the instructor and at the instructor’s discretion.

• I strictly enforced JPS Dress Code Policy.

• Students must only wear uniform colors as required by the students’ policy, unless school/teacher notify otherwise.

• Shirts must be tucked in and pants pulled to the waist.

• Female skirts must be to the knee or below, not higher.

• Males CANNOT wear earrings or oversized jewelry.
