First Lady Michelle Obama Visits

Inglewood

Market

Free

First Lady Michelle Obama

joined Mayor Antonio

Villaraigosa and other local

politicians to market the opening

of a new, health conscious

supermarket in Inglewood

Wednesday morning, the first

tangible result of a $264 million

dollar state fund bringing

affordable and healthy food to

California’s underserved

communities.

Standing before a backdrop

of neatly displayed produce and

marketplace décor circa 1950,

the First Lady christened the new

Northgate Market, which plans

to employ 200 workers when it

opens its door at the end of the

year.

“I believe every family in this

country should have access to

healthy foods,” Obama said to a

crowd of investors, local

politicians and members of the

media.

The Inglewood location is

one of three Northgate Markets

being financed by the California

FreshWorks Fund, which has

committed nearly $20 million to

the company.

The fund is modeled after

the national Healthy Food

Financing Initiative (HFFI),

which aims to bring healthy food

retailers to underserved urban

and rural communities across America.

Northgate Markets recently

opened a location in San

Diego, and will use funds to

launch two more stores in

South Los Angeles, including

the Inglewood branch, said

company co-owner Oscar Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said the new market

in Inglewood will provide an

affordable, healthy alternative to

the food outlets currently serving

the area.

"It is our responsibility to

understand our local communities

and their needs," he said. "This

store will definitely have a much

wider variety of healthy choices

for our customers."

Ellen Reese, 65, said she was

very pleased with Obama's

dedication to bringing healthier

food options to her neighborhood.

"So many people in this

community do not eat healthily.

"It's good for children to learn to

eat healthy."

The Carson Chamber will be celebrating its 11th Annual Business Expo on Thursday, February 24th, 2011 from 11:00

a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Juanita Millender‐McDonald Community Center. The first annual Carson Chamber Business Expo

was held in February 2000. It was created as a marketing device to assist the Carson Chamber smaller businesses’ in

promoting their business. Initially, it was comprised of less than ten vendors and approximately 20 attendees, and was

held in Hall C of the community center.

Over the years, it has propelled to more than 100 vendors representing various businesses and industries, throughout

Southern California and it is now held in Halls A‐B‐C of the community center. The attendees come from Carson, the

Presidential Disrespect

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has

one hell of a nerve. In an image

that has gone viral, she put her

finger in President Obama's face,

apparently lecturing him about

something or other, making her

the pure picture of arrogant

disrespect. Apparently, she has

learned from the best of the

marketers. Before her finger-

wagging diatribe, her book

Scorpions for Breakfast was

ranked 285,568 on the Amazon

list. By the time she finished

promoting and defending her

disrespect, with appearances on

Fox News and other networks, the

book rose from its lowly perch to

be ranked at 21 by Thursday and

at 15 by Sunday. read about

something I'm going to talk about.

But Kindle lets you "sample" and

the sample was not impressive.

And Amazon lets you browse

parts of the book. Also

unimpressive. At the end of the

day, I refuse to enrich a woman

who lacks such basic disrespect

that she has to finger wag and still

does not have the good sense to

apologize. Shame on her and

shame on Arizona!

She is not the first, though, and

she won't be the last to

disrespect President Obama and

the First Family. Indeed, from

the time President Obama was

nominated the disrespect has

been replete, and it has had a

racial component that only an

ostrich would deny. Brewer

played the race card, with body

language that screamed "boy".

Then she said President Obama

was "disrespectful" when he

walked away from her mid-

conversation. She is lucky that

President Obama has such

amazing self-restraint. I can

imagine quite a few folks,

failing to relish the experience

of a leader so undisciplined as

to resort to finger wagging,

who might have responded

very differently than President

Obama did. Later, Governor

Brewer said she felt

"threatened" by President

Obama. Give me a break! This

is classic Birth of A Nation,

with the fragile white woman

so threatened by brutish black

man that she runs off a cliff. If

anyone should have felt

threatened by the conversation,

it was President Obama, which

is perhaps why he walked

away. Look at the picture. Who

looks contained, and who looks

out of control? Brewer's

invocation of racial stereotypes

sent her pathetic book rising to

the charts, just like Limbaugh's

racial attacks on President

Obama keep his ratings up.

Joe Buscaino sworn in as newest L.A. City Council member

Joe Buscaino was sworn in Tuesday as the city councilman for the 15th District

stretching from San Pedro north to Watts.

City Clerk June Lagmay administered the oath of office in the John Ferraro

Council Chamber as more than two dozen members of Buscaino's family,

council colleagues and other city officials attended.

"I am so looking forward to working with each and every one of you to improve

the quality of life in our great city. We're going to do great things together,

colleagues," Buscaino said. "As an Italian-American in the John Ferraro City

Council Chambers ... Council

member Ferraro is smiling down."

Buscaino, a former LAPD police

officer, won a decisive victory

over Assemblyman Warren

Furutani in a special runoff election on Jan. 17. The council seat had been empty since Janice Hahn

left the office in July to represent the South Bay area in Congress.

Buscaino said he met with his staff Monday to formulate a 100-day plan. He will attend his first City

Council meeting today. On the agenda will be a Department of Water and Power proposal to raise

water rates by about 3 percent. Among Buscaino's own first initiatives will be a motion seeking to

reduce parking meter rates in downtown San Pedro, which he said would help small businesses.

After being sworn in, Buscaino posed for photos with his wife, Geralyn, son Matteo, 8, and daughter Gia, 5.

"There's nobody happier than me right now," Buscaino's 91-year-old grandmother, Rosaria LoGrande, said in Italian as she fought back tears,

according to another family member who was translating.

Councilman Bill Rosendahl presented Buscaino with a half-dozen fresh eggs laid by his own hens.

Long Beach Hospital Program Wins Award

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has awarded its Quality Care Award to Long Beach

Memorial Medical Center’s adult cystic fibrosis program.

The program was among 11 centers chosen out of 32 cystic fibrosis centers in the

country to receive the award. Instituted in 2008, the award is presented each year at

the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference.

Recipients are chosen based on a long list of quality improvement criteria. Long

Beach Memorial was chosen based on “sustained quality improvement work that is

improving outcomes. In addition to the improvements in overall quality in patient care, Memorial’s adult cystic fibrosis program set out to

improve its patients’ lung capacity by 5 percent per year for two years through patient education.

The team streamlined patient visits, increased office hours and established a separate area where adult cystic fibrosis patients can be seen. In

addition, a designated nurse practitioner and a respiratory therapist were added to the care team.

Share An Evening with Olympic Hopeful Carmelita Jeter

Cal State University Dominguez Hills Loker Student Union Ballroom, Thurs., Feb. 9th, 6-8pm Call (310) 243-2237 The California State University, Dominguez Hills Alumni Association presents its “Alumni Spotlight” series of notable alumni for 2012 featuring sprinter and Olympic hopeful Carmelita Jeter. Jeter, a resident of Gardena, graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. A member of the track team during her college years, Jeter was a six-time NCAA Division II All-America sprinter and a three-time runner-up at the NCAA Division II National Championships. She is the university’s most decorated track and field athlete, and the university’s first Olympic qualifier. She competes in the London Summer Olympics this August.

She burst onto the national scene in 2007, taking podium finishes in national and international competitions. In 2009, she claimed the title of “fastest woman in the world” after posting a time a 10.64 in the 100m. She continued to prove that title this past year by winning the 100m finals in the USA Outdoor Championships and the IAAF World Championship in Athletics. In December, U.S.A Track and Field presented her with the 2011 Jesse Owens Athlete of the Year Award. On the heels of those accomplishments and the eve of her Olympic debut, she returns to her alma mater to discuss her road to success.

CARSON HIGH SCHOOL’S DARREUS

ROGERS CHOOSES USC

Darreus Rogers, a receiver from Carson High who is regarded as one of the

top prospects nationally at his position, announced that he had signed a letter

of intent with USC.

Rogers, 6-foot-2 and 194 pounds, had made a verbal commitment to USC,

but reportedly took a recruiting trip to Arizona State and was considering

signing with the Sun Devils.

Rogers was the second receiver to sign with the Trojans on Wednesday, joining Nelson Agholor of Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep.

Rogers and Agholor join a USC receiving corps that includes All-American Robert Woods, freshman All-American Marqise Lee and George

Farmer, all of whom played at Gardena Serra High. Junior De'Von Flournoy and redshirt freshman Victor Blackwell also will be competing for

playing time when the Trojans begin spring practice next month.

LAUSD Panel Seeks Comment on

Redistricting at Public Meetings

With a goal of having maps approved by March 1, the citizen commission tasked with redrawing the voting boundaries for the seven Los Angeles Unified districts will launch a series of meetings next week to gather public comment. The 15-member LAUSD Redistricting Commission will consider population and such factors as race and common interests as it determines the area each elected school board member will represent. Remembering Don Cornelius & Soul Train

SOUL TRAIN Creator and Executive Producer Don Cornelius has been at

the cutting edge of Soul music (including Rhythm and Blues, Hip Hop,

Gospel and Jazz) for over 30 years.

His influence and achievements have been recognized by Hollywood and

the broadcasting community alike, with

a STAR on the Hollywood Walk of

Fame; and his induction into the

Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame.

The year 2005 was, indeed, a pinnacle

year, in terms of equally prestigious

honors being bestowed upon Don

Cornelius and Soul Train, with Cornelius

and Soul Train receiving a Special

Grammy Award from the NARAS Board of Regents, for career contributions and achievements. The year 2005

was also a year during which Cornelius and Soul Train would, combinely be honored with the coveted 2005 Pop

Culture Award at the 2005 TV Land (network) Awards cablecast.

Soul Train’s 25th consecutive season on the air provided the momentum, in 1995, for the Cornelius Production

Team to mount an all-star CBS television special; while the weekly dance show, alone, would continuing to

inspire at least two generations of music aficionados, with its hip dances, fashions and exciting performances by R&B/Soul, Hip Hop, Gospel,

Jazz and Pop recording artists.

For a number of years, the longest running TV program of any genre in the entire history of first-run, nationally syndicated TV programming, in

America, Soul Train celebrated its 30th consecutive season on the air with a

nationally syndicated, June/2000 TV special, entitled Divas and Kings, 2000 and

Beyond/The Soul Train 30th Anniversary.

In addition to the weekly series, (which

for 22 consecutive years featured Don

Cornelius, himself, as Soul Train’s On-

Air Host), Don Cornelius Productions

produces three, annual, nationally

syndicated, prime time TV specials -- the

Soul Train Music Awards (20th year), the

Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards (10th

year), and the Soul Train Christmas

Starfest, which debuted in 1998.

The Annual Soul Train TV specials are among the most enthusiastically supported, by the recording

industry and all attract top performance talent, annually, including the likes of Dianna Ross, the late Barry

White, Patty LaBelle, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, the late Luther Vandross, Vanessa Williams, LL

Cool J, Anita Baker, Boyz II Men and many others.

Ironically, the Soul Train legacy almost didn't happen. In the spring of 1966, Don Cornelius took what he

considered to be a gamble, at best and enrolled in a broadcasting school in Chicago. He had been advised,

during indoctrination, that he and the majority of those enrolled in the course might never get jobs in broadcasting. Despite the odds against

success, Cornelius decided to give the course a try, since being a radio announcer had always been a dream of his. Cornelius attended classes in

the morning, while maintaining a regular job during the rest of the day and in three months had completed the course.

In 1967, Cornelius was offered a part-time

position as a news announcer on Chicago radio

station WVON, one of Chicago's most popular

Black-oriented stations. Later, he would set his

sights on TV and TV production, which led to

his idea for a Black-oriented dance show.

Cornelius pitched the idea to WCIU-TV in

Chicago and agreed to produce the pilot at his

own expense, while the station agreed to provide

a small studio.

Cornelius completed the pilot and proceeded to

hold screenings, in search of

advertiser/sponsors. Initially, there were no

takers, as advertiser representatives who would

screen the pilot did not seem overwhelmed by

Cornelius' new idea for a Black-targeted TV

dance show, which he called Soul Train.

With a personal promise from Cornelius that, “Full sponsorship was right around the corner,” WCIU-TV (channel 26) began airing the original,

local Chicago area, version of Soul Train in five-day-per-week, one-hour, afternoon episodes, on August 17, 1970.

Soul Train became an instant hit, across Chicago TV audiences, which attracted

the attention of Johnson Products Company (Ultra Sheen/ Afro Sheen, etc., hair

care products) founder and president George Johnson, who proposed an

advertising partnership that would involve taking Soul Train in a direction toward

national syndication.

In the summer of 1971, Cornelius began commuting to Hollywood, California, in

hopes of locating better production facilities than could be found at the time in

Chicago. After several trips to California, still with guidance and support from

Johnson Products Company, the goals of securing a good facility and an

experienced production crew were achieved.

The syndicated version went on the air October 2, 1971. As expected, it was an

immediate success in the markets that carried the show. Unfortunately, the

syndicating agency was able to premiere the show in only seven of the 25 target

cities. The seven included Atlanta, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles,

Philadelphia and San Francisco. Many other station program directors conceded

that the show was well produced and very entertaining, but said that they had no

open time periods, regardless of the barter considerations being offered by the syndicator. In a number of cases, the syndicator was turned down by

all of six or more stations in the same city. Almost invaluably, Soul Train's reputation and popularity grew, rapidly, in the cities that had accepted

the show, the syndicator gradually began to pick up more stations.

Soul Train currently reaches 85% of U.S. Black Television households, through station clearances in 105 cities, including all major markets. Soul

Train continues to perform well in all ratings research categories and is now, firmly, established, according to Cornelius, as one of America’s most

successful targeted TV programs in first run syndication.

In 1985, Tribune Entertainment Company became the exclusive distributor/syndicator of Soul Train, thus providing the program with its most

effective support system yet. Two years later, Tribune would also be the avenue for the successful, 1987 launch of the Soul Train Music Awards,

live, two-hour television Special, which is presented, annually, in prime time, national syndication.

The Tribune Entertainment Company/Don Cornelius Productions, Inc. relationship would add to the overall Soul Train programming portfolio by

launching the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards annual TV special, to honor the accomplishments of women in the music industry, in 1995; and

The Soul Train Christmas Starfest, annual, holiday, TV special, in 1998. "All three Soul Train Specials, according to Cornelius represent our

proudest examples of the partnership's consistent pursuit of our common goal of creating extraordinary exposure opportunities, for minority and

other recording artists, on national television.”

their cameras into everyday America

in search of pointed, unfiltered and

penetrating interviews with Black

women of the darkest hues for their

emotional expose‘, ―Dark Girls‖. Two

years in the making and slated to premier at the Toronto

International Film Festival, ―Dark Girls‖ pulls back our country‘s

curtain to reveal that the deep seated biases and hatreds of racism

– within and outside of the Black American culture – remain bitterly

entrenched.

Berry states of the film‘s origin, ―When Bill called me with the idea

of a documentary about dark-skinned women, I was in right away.

Being a dark-skinned Black man, like Bill, I have gone through

similar traumas. Being separated and discriminated against by our

own people. It stifles your self-esteem. Bill and I shared our similar

experiences and immediately understood that we knew the best way to approach this.‖

Duke adds, ―In the late

`60s a famous

psychological study was

done in which a young

Black girl was presented

with a set of dolls. Every

time the she was asked

to point to the one that

wasn‘t pretty, not smart,

etc., she pointed to the

Black doll that looked

just like her. In her

mind, she was already indoctrinated. To watch her do that was

heartbreaking and infuriating. CNN did the test again recently – decades

later – with little progress. As the filmmakers behind ‗Dark Girls,‘ our goal is

to take that little girl‘s finger off that doll.‖

Dark-skinned Black American women from all walks of life will be covered

with a key focus trained tightly upon women struggling for upward mobility

in the workplace of Corporate America. ―The sickness is so crazy,‖ Berry

continues. ―These ladies broke it down to the degree that dark-skinned

‗sistas‘ with ‗good‘ hair vs. dark-skinned women with ‗kinky‘ hair were given

edges when it came time for coveted promotions.‖ Additional interviewees

for ―Dark Girls‖ include White men in loving intimate relationships with Black

women that were passed over by ―their own men,‖ as well as dark-skinned women of Latin and Panamanian background to

You allow messages in your mind from teachers, friends, parents, television, radio, movies, etc. Your internal program determines your perceptions, self-esteem and ultimately your behavior.

If you want to change your internal program, remember you are the programmer. You will need to install wisdom and knowledge and delete some habits and relationships. Self-examination and self-correction are the hot keys. What you choose to surround yourself with becomes a part of who you are. Have you ever notice that as you grow in life, in experiences, in education, the circle of people you call your friends changes? Our friends are a result of what we are most comfortable with--what areas in our life we spend the most time in. If you surround yourself with individuals with no goals, no ambition, you will eventually become like those individuals. Zachery Tims’ New Destiny Members Rally

Against Paula White Succession

Supporters of Riva Tims, ex-wife of the late Pastor Zachery Tims rallied outside New Destiny

Christian Center in Apopka Thursday to protest Paula White’s succession as senior pastor of the

Florida Megachurch.

Riva Tims co-founded the church with her former husband in 1996.The protesters held signs that read

“Come Support Pastor Riva! Use your voice!” – attempting to get the attention of those attending New

Destiny’s Bible study group that normally met on Thursday evenings, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The Church is expected to announce who will take Tims’ place on Jan. 1. Leaders within New Destiny

surveyed the congregation recently on whether they wanted Paula White to become their new leader. However, no other name was offered for

approval. Paula White is the pastor of Without Walls International Church in Tampa, Fla.

Some of the protesters spoke to the Orlando Sentinel regarding the possibilty of Paula White succeeding Tims.

“I don’t feel like the congregation had any say,” said Samantha Moore of Altamonte Springs, who joined New Destiny three years ago. “I don’t agree

with what is going on. I don’t feel like she [Paula White] is who we need.”

Jerelen Jackson, who has been a member of New Destiny since 2002, explained how current and former members of the megachurch are not happy

with its board not considering Tims’ ex-wife Riva for the position. Riva Tims became the pastor of her own church, Majestic Life Church in Lockhart, in

2009 when she and Zachery divorced.

“Pastor Zach died and Pastor Riva is alive. Who knows that church better than she does?” said Jackson who followed Riva to Majestic life. “And she

wasn’t even considered.”

Shortly after Zachery Tims' death, Riva announced that she would be involved in the selection of the new pastor for New Destiny. But when the church

decided to discuss the matter, she was not included

Ahhhhh, The Madison, you make me feel so grown up and elegant.

I have dined here three times and I held a surprise 20th anniversary celebration for my

husband here in 2009.

The experience begins when you pull up to the

valet. The attendants are so friendly and helpful.

As they open your door, you step out onto a red carpet that leads you to the glorious entrance of The

Madison (which used to be a bank way back in the day). Once inside, you are mesmerized by the

exquisite chandeliers and floor to ceiling all wood bar where you expect to see Humphrey Bogart

sitting while sipping on some bourbon and enjoying a cigar.

The whole experience is so elegant and classy without

a pretentious feel. The food is delicious and the

presentation is beautiful. Service can be a little slow at

times, but it may be because they want you to enjoy the whole dining experience in full. If you

want to plan an event, Patrick is *the man*. He worked with me on a very limited budget and

provided me with such a memorable evening that it actually stood out more than my own wedding

reception.

Like I said, the food is very very good, but I come here more for the feel it gives me. It's like being

thrown back into the roaring twenties full of class and elegance. I love the atmosphere here.

Guy Fieri Food: Cookin' It, Livin' It, Lovin' It

The idea behind creating Guy Fieri Food was to pull together the stories and recipes that show how

I got to where I am today. I‘ve put everything into this book as if it was the last thing I will ever

do. That‘s a huge position to take, and everyone who participated, from family to friends to

supporting teams, had the same attitude from beginning to end. It was Go Big or Go Home.

With my Guy Fieri Knuckle Sandwich team, I developed recipes for the book by brainstorming on

camping trips, on airplanes, through texts, over voicemails, on cocktail napkins, and by stepping

into somebody‘s kitchen while on the road. Every moment, all the time, the recipe machine was on.

I can‘t taste it, look at it, see it, smell it, want it, or be around it without thinking what more it

could be, where it could be used and how it could be served. Creating new recipes is like playing on a giant culinary playground—as long as you bring a fearless attitude you‘re in the game.

This book has it all. Dozens and dozens of kickass recipes? Got ‗em. Stories of my younger days wrangling pigs, becoming Mr. Awesome

Pretzel, and mastering flambé captain duties? Of course! But I‘ll also give you the backstory behind starting my restaurants and the

recipes that became my culinary foundation, and I‘ll even lead you through a tour of vegetables with my go-to methods on when to get

them and how to best cook ‗em up. This is a 360 experience, from my roots to my restaurants to my shows and all the great food in between. Guy Fieri Food will feed all your senses, and if we had a good scratch and sniff it would‘ve been in there.

Glazed Oxtails Now this is how oxtails should taste," my father declared after taking a bite of these glazed oxtails. I couldn't agree more. We have a thing for oxtails in our family. Oxtail Stew was a favorite winter dish my mom prepared when we were

growing up. If you are unfamiliar with oxtails, they are tails of steers, typically sold cut into segments. Most of what you buy is bone, and the meat is well exercised and fatty, so oxtail preparations lend themselves to slow cooking, much like short-ribs, but in my opinion, even better. Think of the best pulled pork imaginable, but with beef. In this recipe the oxtails are first browned, then slow cooked with red wine and stock. Then the segments are removed so you

can strip the meat off of them and the liquid is reduced to a glaze. It's actually pretty easy to make, most of the cooking time is hands-off while the oxtails are simmering.

Ingredients

4 lbs of oxtails

Kosher salt

1/4 cup grape seed or olive oil

2 cups of chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped carrot

2 Tbsp olive oil

1 750ml bottle full bodied red wine

4 cups veal, beef, or chicken stock

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Freshly ground pepper

Method

1 Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a 5 to 6-quart thick bottomed Dutch oven on medium high to high heat. Working in batches, pat dry the oxtails with

paper towels, sprinkle them on all sides with salt, and add them to the pan, fat side down on the pan. Add more oil as needed with

additional batches of oxtails. Do not crowd the pan. Let them get well browned on one side before using tongs to move them. Brown well

on all sides. Remove to a large bowl.

2 Add the onions, celery and carrots to the pot. Sauté until translucent and lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the vegetables from

the pot to a bowl, cover and set aside.

3 Add the bottle of wine to the pot. Increase the heat to as high as it will go, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Boil

the wine, uncovered, until it is reduced to about a cup.

4 Return the oxtails to the pot (but not the vegetables). Add the stock and enough water to just cover them. Add the thyme. Bring to a boil

and reduce to a simmer, covered. Simmer on the stovetop for 3 hours. (You can also place the simmering oxtails into a 350°F oven for the

same amount of time if the oven is more convenient.) Add the vegetables back to the pot when you have about a half hour left to go.

5 Remove from heat and let cool. Chill in the refrigerator overnight so that the flavors blend and the fat on the surface solidifies, making it

easier to remove. You can skip this step, but the oxtails will be better if they are chilled in this state overnight.

6 The next day, remove the pot from the refrigerator and scrape off the layer of rendered fat that has solidified on top of the oxtails. If you

are not waiting for the oxtails to chill, the fat still needs to be removed. If working with a room temperature or warm pot, use a fat separator

or a large metal spoon to skim away the fat.

7 Heat the oxtails on medium heat. Cook uncovered for about another half an hour, or until the meat can easily be pulled off the bones.

Then use a slotted spoon to remove the oxtails from the pot. Let cool enough to touch. Use your hands to remove the meat from the bones

to a bowl. Take care to remove as well the round tough cartilage caps on either end of the vertebrae.

8 (Optional, if you want a smoother glaze) While the oxtails are cooling in the step above, strain the mixture in the pot, discarding the

solids and returning the liquid to the pot. Increase the heat to high to bring the liquid to a boil.

9 When the liquid has reduced by about a half, add the oxtail meat back to the pot. Bring to a boil, continue to boil away the liquid until it

has reduced to a light syrupy consistency. As the mixture boils down, you may want to reduce the heat to a simmer, and stir the oxtails a

little so that the glaze doesn't burn and so that the meat doesn't stick to the pan. When the right consistency, remove from heat and serve.

Serve with mashed potatoes, polenta, egg noodles, or rice. (Avoid egg noodles if cooking gluten-free.)

Yield: Serves 4-5
