Carr to run for State Representative
(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.-Friday, February 15, 2008) – Small businessman and
entrepreneur Joe Carr, announced today that he has filed his petition with the Rutherford
County Election Commission to seek the office of State Representative in the 48th
District. “After Rep. Hood announced that he would not seek reelection, I received
countless phone calls of support and encouragement from Democrats and Republicans
alike to seek this office. Since the last election, I have continued to attend community
events and meet with numerous citizens from all across the district,” Carr said.
“In talking with citizens of the 48th District, their message has been clear. They want a
conservative businessman who will use his real world experiences to make common
sense decisions for the people of Tennessee. They want a leader who not only notices the
problems facing our district, but one who will actively work towards solutions to those
problems. We all know that illegal immigration is a big issue in Tennessee. The truth is
that there are some common sense measures that we can adopt today to deal with it. We
also know that education is a very important issue in Tennessee. Again, there are somecommon sense measures that we can adopt today that can improve the way we educate
our children in Tennessee. Another important issue that hits home with many families in
the 48th district is the family budget. In this day and time, every dollar is a stretch and
citizens want to know that they have an elected representative who will fight against any
and all tax increases, so that we, the taxpayers, can keep more of our hard earned money.”
“Joe Carr represents the kind of leader we need in the State House,” said Jerry Robinson,
owner of Slick Pig BBQ on Main St. “Joe will work to fix the problem of illegal
immigration by proposing common sense measures that will drive illegals out of
Tennessee.”
