Client-The Matthews
• The National Kitchen and Bath Association hosts a student design competition every year. We were given a client scenario and asked to design both a kitchen and bath for them
• Sub-Zero/Wolf and Waypoint Living Spaces both sponsor this competition
• A winning entry in this competition means increased industry visibility, peer recognition and valuable publicity opportunities.

• She is a 27 year old culinary student and dreams to be a professional baker
• He is a 30 year old financial analyst • They own a large dog, a 9-month-old
Alaskan Malamute • The Matthews are history buffs and love the
look and feel of old homes and want to maintain the old world charm of the old home and are interested in a transitional style

Cala lilies with their beautiful white and green contrast are wonderfully sophisticated and fresh looking and like this kitchen, it was designed to have a traditional and somewhat formal feel but still make the inhabitants completely comfortable in the space. The traditional mood was kept in the room with a crisp color scheme, large molding, floor to ceiling cabinetry, glass with beveled edges and era specific accessories.
Challenges: • Meeting all of the clients requirements
with the amount of space that was allowed
• Incorporating two eating areas • Follow NKBA requirements What I learned: • Anything is possible, you just have to be
creative and find a way

have made the closet in the bedroom beside available for the renovation.
This transitional style was attained with a mix of old and modern elements combined seamlessly. The most important addition was adding a clerestory windows to a previously only artificially lit room. Long clean lines, a light color palette and some transitional looking fixtures keeps the feeling of the home historic but updated. Historic element that were included was reeded glass in the door, tapered legs on the vanity, tall baseboards, crown molding, era specific lights, damask wallpaper, beveled edges on the mirror and ornamental lines. Modern elements included water fixtures, heated floors and a towel warmer

“East meet West” explores the release of Japanese design into the western world. The exterior of the building reflects the Rocky Mountains, one thing our country is noted for which can be seen in the irregular roof plane. But the interior of the design boast horizontality- a typical Japanese trend. The color palette reflects the Japanese roots with the color red while the green ties into the indoor-outdoor feel with floor to ceiling glazing. The interior has a mix furnishings, 50’s furniture and other western elements along with sliding doors, the use of bamboo wood screens circular hanging lights and Japanese inspired furniture to bring the two concepts together

Retail Project The requirement of this project was to design a retail store in an existing mall stall. I chose a clothing store which sold selling semi formal cocktail dresses.
Retail Project
The exploration of the project began with the beauty of the female body and the empowerment behind it. Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O were the pioneers of the age where women could express themselves by the way they dressed their body and
this shop carries elegant dresses which compliment that historic time. It’s not about the exposure or modification of the body but the appreciation of the form naturally.
