Job Description

"A physical therapist is a person who assesses, plans, and participates in rehabilative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury" (Virginia Career VIEW).

Pediatric physical therapy is a specialized profession for children only.

“A day at work would include a general caseload of 8 patients per day, management, scheduling, and student preceptor” (Ratcliff).

Education Needs

To be a physical therapist, at least a master's degree is required.

“Master's degree programs typically are 2 to 2.5 years in length, while doctoral degree programs last 3 years” ("Physical Therapists")

To be a licensed physical therapist, there are several things one must do. Most of the qualifications vary by state. One example of a credential one must have is passing the National Physical Therapy Examination.
