Acoustical Performance

Carnival Ceiling Floats provide greater sound absorption

than a continuous ceiling of the same surface area because

the soundwaves are absorbed from both surfaces of the

float – the exposed bottom surface and the non-exposed

top surface.

Factors to be considered for acoustical performanceinclude

• Size of the float

• Number of floats for a given enclosed space

• Plenum depth of the float from the soffit

• Ceiling tile or panel selection

• Acoustical overlay (if any) on the ceiling tile or panel

Design Considerations

Only SoundSkelet Infinity Square Edge can sport rounded corners. Steppe & Knife Edge cannot feature rounded corners.

The colour matching of SoundSkelet Infinity and SoundSkelet T15 / O15 / U15 to a coloured ceiling tile will achieve

75-95% results as it represents two very different materials.

Ceiling floats can only be installed in a horizontal plane. It cannot be sloped or curved along its horizontal axis.

Ceiling floats like any other architectural elements located in the plenum may interfere with fire detection and suppression

systems. Life safety system must be installed in the open plenum areas or penetrated through the ceiling floats.

In seismic zones additional lateral supports may become necessary. These are not included in original kits.

Ceiling floats is not for outdoor use.
