    OVERSEAS EXAMINATIONS COMMISSION

    The May/June 2014 sitting of the CXC-CSEC Examinations will be offered in the subjects and at the Proficiency Level shown in the table on the application form.

    In addition, candidates now need to provide the following information: o Previous registration number if CXC exams have been done after June 2004; o Whether each subject is being done for the first time [1st], or not [Repeat]; o Whether candidates attend class tick () School or not then tick () Self-tutor.

    ALTERNATIVE PAPER TO THE SBA Private candidates registering for the Alternate to the SBA in subjects where that is possible are advised that, in each case, they will be required to sit Papers 1 and 2 as well as an additional Paper 3/2. Science subjects are now included.

    Candidates should indicate Alternate (ALT.) on the Entry Form, as shown below.

    If the candidate has the requisite SBA score(s) for the subject and intend to re-use or "carry forward" this score(s), then they must indicate "RESIT" and give their May/June 2013 registration number at Option 5 on the application form.

    Example. Option # 5: Previous Registration Number: 100010000

    IMPORTANT NOTE:

    1. There is a cost to switch status after entries have been submitted to CXC.

    2. SBA scores can only be re-used once!

    3. All candidates are encouraged to obtain the Syllabus for the subject(s) they are sitting. Syllabuses are available for purchase at the Overseas Examinations Commission.

    PAPER 3/2 SEMINARS Candidates sitting Social Studies, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business and Office Administration may register for special seminars (on the Alternative Paper i.e. 3/2) to be conducted by the Overseas Examinations Commission. You can still register for the Seminars now as the closing date

    will be on January 31, 2014.

    SUBMISSION OF ENTRY Candidates must submit their completed Entry Form and payment voucher/debit receipt to

    the Overseas Examinations Commission by FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2014 in order to be registered. Payment of cash at the BNS Bank or by Debit Card in our Kingston office is the first step in getting registered. You must hand in your document and return to check your entry information at the date specified in this form. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED TO PROVIDE STAMPS AND ENVELOPES. THE COST FOR BOTH ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR ENTRY FEE.***

  • Electronic Document Preparation & Management (EDPM) There is a Computer Lab Fee of $1,440.00 to sit the Practical Examination for this subject. INTEGRATED SCIENCE Candidates will be able to sit CSEC Integrated Science examination for May/June 2014. SPANISH/ FRENCH ORAL EXAMINATIONS Candidates who wish to register for Spanish/French are advised that the examination is available in Kingston only. Spanish/French Oral examinations will be held at the Overseas Examinations

    Commission towards the end of April 2014 starting at 8:30 a.m. Please note that you will be called and advised of the actual date for the Oral examinations. SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ARRANGEMENTS Candidates requesting special assessment arrangements for Braille, Enlarge Scripts, Extra Time and Reader/Writer assistance, etc. MUST submit a Medical Assessment Report immediately upon registration. Please note that there is an administrative charge of $1,350.00 per candidate.

    IDENTIFICATION Candidates MUST provide appropriate identification in order to be allowed to write examinations offered by the Overseas Examinations Commission. The acceptable forms of identification are: Passport, Electoral I.D., or Drivers Licence. SYLLABUSES FOR CXC SUBJECTS All candidates are encouraged to obtain the Syllabuses for the subject(s) they are sitting. Some Syllabuses are available for purchase at the Overseas Examinations Commission or can be downloaded from CXC's website at: http://cxc.org/CSEC Syllabuses OR http://cxc.org/CAPE Syllabuses.

    TIMETABLES

    EXAMINATIONS BEGIN ON MONDAY, MAY 5, 2014 You are reminded that timetables as well as Preliminary Results Slips are mailed to private candidates. If you do not receive your CSEC Timetable, through the mail, by APRIL 25, 2014, you should visit or contact the Overseas Examinations Commission immediately as a matter of urgency. You will still be able to write your examination(s) even if you did not receive your timetable in the mail. The OEC will provide a Duplicate Timetable confirming your registration details. You should provide proof of entry for the examination. The dates of your exam can also be viewed online by visiting the CXC's website: www.cxc.org or by visiting the CXC's new Student Portal at http://ors.cxc.org/studentportal. CHANGE OF ADDRESS Candidates who have changed their address after they have been registered should notify the Overseas Examinations Commission, in writing immediately, so that corrections can be made for the mailing of timetables and results.

    WITHDRAWAL/REFUND Candidates should think carefully before registering for the examinations as entries are not transferable across sittings and withdrawals/refunds will only be entertained if the candidate applies within 14 days after early registration is closed and gives a good reason why he/she is unable to sit the examination.

    Refunds are only dealt with after all entry processes have been completed. Usually this process

    can take between 6 - 8 weeks.

    Late requests for withdrawal/refund will not be processed by the Overseas Examinations Commission but will instead, be forwarded to the Examining Body for its decision. This process can take up to 4-6 months.

    Any request for a refund must be done, in writing, and the original BNS vouchers/Receipts must be submitted along with the written request. Additionally, the OEC administrative fee of $700.00 will be deducted for service charge. No administrative fee will be deducted where a refund results from an OEC error.
