The brothers Robert and Joseph Mac Gregor from Whitley Bay inNorthumberland invented watertight steel hatch covers withmechanical operating systems to replace the time consuming woodenhatch covers.
ASCARGO originates from CARGOCOVER and ASCA whichcompany was formed by the three main Swedish shipyards back in1966.
All ship's hatch covers can be serviced and supplied with spareparts through the ASCARGO organization.
When there is a need of spare parts and/or service work for ourproducts, our resources are world-wide.

This includes new fabrication or repairs to steelwork for all kinds of cargo access equipment,the renewal or refurbishing of piping, wiring and hydraulics, the replacement of rubber sealing.Work can be carried out either in port or at sea.
SERVICE STATIONS
ASCARGO INTERNATIONAL Service Stations are in all the world's major ports. All ourService Stations are capable of providing engineers and equipment and carry out full surveywork.
EMERGENCY REPAIRS
The servicing operation is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ASCARGO engineers canbe ready to meet the ship on arrival in port, to carry out immediate repairs and will, if necessary,sail with the ship.
Non-standard parts of older or specialised vessels, or any kind of hatch-cover can ususallybe delivered in less than one week.
TRAVELLING SHIPS REPAIRS SQUADS
With adequate planning, major programmes can be made without loss of cargo handling timeor ship's schedule. This involves minor work being carried out at the sea and major work inport.
SPARE PARTS FOR VESSELS BUILT IN SPAIN
An important requirement of Shipwners who have built vessels in Spain or have purchasedSpanish built ships is their need to obtain Spanish made spare parts. This service is providedby ASCARGO through its SPARE PARTS DEPT.
HYDRAULIC & PIPEWORK SERVICE
ASCARGO is one of the few Companies which can offer total hydraulic and pipework capability.We are able to offer our specially trained and highly skilled Engineers and pipe fittersexperienced in both high and low pressure hydraulic systems in all types of ships. Our repairfacility is capable of repairing hydraulic cylinders, minipacks, power packs, pumps, jacks andmotor gearbox units. We can also design and modify existing designs on such items as mini-packs and power packs. Rods and barrels can be replaced, rods and bores re-chromed.

Our factories also manufacture their own hydraulic cylinders, minipacks power packs, givinga total refurbishment capability.

Hatch Sealing Tapes
CanSeal-R is the premium quality roll type marinetape recommended for moderate weatherconditions. CanSeal-R is available in two widthsand combines quality and convenience at a veryeconomical price.
Application Instructions:
1. Surface must be clean and dry2. Remove loose rust and old tape3. A thin layer of old CanSeal® tape can be usedas a base for the new application4. Remove paper backing from CanSeal® rolland press into place, covering hatch joint5. Step firmly on the full length of tape6. Note: In cold weather conditions it is advisableto heat the hatch surface and adhesive sideof tape before application.
CanSeal is the heavy duty hatch sealing tapemanufactured in Canada with extraordinarystrength, adhesion and flexibility. At 5.0 mm thickand reinforced with specially treated fiberglassmesh, CanSeal Marine Tape ensures that yourcargo will arrive damage free.
Specifications:
- Heavy duty hatch cover tape in strips- High tack adhesive mastic with fiberglass mesh reinforcement and polyethylene over- Modern polymer modification process flexibility- Extreme high and low end temperature performance

Anti-Corrosion Tapes and Coatings for Deck Equipment
PetroWrap Anti-Corrosion Tape
The PetroWrap Anti-Corrosion System has been developed for long term protection of metalsurfaces that are underground, underwater, or exposed - even in the most severe environments.It consists of a cold applied system of petrolatum-based PetroWrap Anti-Corrosion Tape,PetroWrap Primer, and, where contouring is necessary, PetroWrap Mastic. PetroWrap adheresto surfaces without heating, even on damp and/or indifferently prepared areas.
The System:
- PetroWrap Primer Paste is a preparatory primer that displaces moisture, pacifies oxides, and fills small irregularities that occur on the surface to be wrapped with PetroWrap Anti-Corrosion Tape.- PetroWrap Mastic is a cold applied filler which profiles areas to be tape wrapped by easing contours on pipe joints, flanges, bolts, and other irregular shapes to be wrapped with PetroWrap Anti-Corrosion Tape.- PetroWrap Anti-Corrosion Tape consists of a non-woven, stitch bonded, synthetic fabric which has been fully impregnated with neutral petrolatum based compounds and inert fillers.

Application Instructions:
- Remove all contaminants such as dirt, oil, scale and excessive moisture.- Brush Petrowrap® Primer A evenly over surface to displace remaining moisture and ensure proper adhesion.- Press Petrowrap® Mastic B into surface irregularities to eliminate air pockets.- Wrap Petrowrap® Tape C spirally around prepared surface using even tension. An overlap of 55% is recommended to assure total protection.

Anti-Corrosion Tapes and Coatings for Deck Equipment
SteamKote HT Pipe Dressing
SteamKote HT Pipe Dressing is a high temperature coating formulated to protect againstcorrosion on steam pipes, valves and deck equipment. SteamKote forms a flexible ‘'skin’'when cured that will not crack, peel or harden even under harsh marine conditions.
SteamKote is the only pipe dressing that is non-flammable.
