Hello Carefree Families and Friends:
Summer weather has finally arrived! Let’s hope it stays for awhile. That said, the chilly weather of last
weekend didn’t stop our committed Carefree families from participating in the Bocce tournament. The or-
ganizers said, ‘rain or shine’ and mother nature came through! Congratulations to the winners and a
round of appreciation for the organizers and volunteers.
I have not had the opportunity to attend past Jam Sessions, so I was thrilled to be there this year. WOW! I
heard we had some talented people in the resort and they sure did entertain us. We had the pleasure of
enjoying various instruments from the spoons to the fiddle and everything in between. Dave Wright and
his band of volunteers brought the music to our ears! Thanks for keeping this yearly tradition alive. The
Frontiers, the newest band to perform at Carefree assisted during the Jam and then continued the enter-
tainment throughout the night. It was nice to experience some new talent at the clubhouse.
As you may know, I now have dual roles on the Board, and I am not only the Secretary but continue to
assist with some of the communications. Sadly, we feel the need to draw attention to the fact that the re-
sort has experienced several dog incidents over the past few months. Without providing the details, I want
to take a moment to express the strong concerns of the Board members and fellow lot owners regarding
the absolute importance of controlling our beloved animals as stated in Carefree Bylaws. I truly believe we
all have the best of intentions to secure our pets, however, it has been proven that unfortunate incidents
do occur. Please take extra care during the remainder of the Carefree season to ensure the safety of our
families, guests and other pets within the resort. In addition, Security has reported that often they have
found unattended dogs and struggled to locate the owners. I would like to suggest that all Lot Owners
and seasonal renters obtain a dog tag from the pet store that states your lot number and a cell phone
number. At best this allows others to contact you should your animal become a bit too Carefree.
There are many events for all ages this weekend, starting with Bingo Friday evening, the Slow Bike Race
at 11am on Saturday followed by the Poker Tournament at 6pm and Church service at 10:30am on Sun-
day. In a world where you can be anything, please be kind. Enjoy your family and friends.
Here’s to summer weekends…Life is definitely better at the Lake!
