WHAT IS LAND SURVEYING?

Interested in Geography, Maths, Science, IT and/or the outdoors? Looking for a job that won’t tie you to a desk? Surveying is the measurement and mapping of our surrounding environment using mathematics and specialised technology. Land surveyors are involved with a diverse variety of projects from land subdivision to tunnel building and major construction. Importantly though, there is much more to surveying than taking meas-urements outdoors and then analysing them back in the office. Surveyors are often the first people on site during any construction process; they are the guardians of property law, and the creators of land titles. They are also the ones who can sign off on the position of new title boundaries. In all, surveyors are an integral part of the process in a wide variety of scenarios. Students who wish to find out what surveying is, what surveyors do, where to study, and what it takes, might like to browse A Life Without Limits

CAREERS IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT

There are so many similar definitions or statements of what a project manager does, and one useful web-site* states that project managers ensure the project is completed on time and within budget, that the pro-ject's objectives are met and that everyone else is doing their job properly. Project managers oversee the project to ensure the desired result is achieved, the most efficient resources are used, and the different in-terests involved are satisfied. The website goes on to mention the typical industries project managers work or are employed in –

NUTRITIONISTS AND DIETITIANS

According to the Dietitian Association of Australia (DAA) - Dietitian Association of Australia (DAA), there is a distinction made between dietitians and other occupations in the nutrition and food science field, including that of nutritionist. The key difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist is that, in addition to or as part of their qualification in human nutrition, a dietitian has undertaken a course of study that included substantial theory and supervised and assessed professional practice in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and food service management. So, in Australia, all dietitians are nutritionists however nutritionists without a dietetics qualification cannot take on the expert role of a die-titian.
