Statement:

Set up as dyptichs of aged persons paired with antiquated objects, this work was done in response to

the passing of my grandfather last February. The realization that a person is alive one day and a ghost the

next, is something that didn’t register with me until his death. The work deals with the theme of time and

its fleeting qualities. This is captured in both the blurred movements of the people and the objects from a

bygone era.

The process in which these images were made is also an antiquated one. This was my first experience using

a pinhole camera and large format film. The camera allows for only eight exposures in one sitting, which then

needed developing, scanning, and digital manipulation. The time-consuming process is one I have grown to

appreciate, and hope to continue working with in the future.

Statement: The eyes are always trying to say something. They are the window to our soul. We always need

to look a little bit closer so we can see the difference between reality and the mask which we always wear.
