Pride RecruitingPride Recruiting is the premier on-campus interview program that brings first-round interviews to you! Through Pride Recruiting, students can interview at The Career Center; it is recommended for students in all majors. To participate in this program, students must attend one of the mandatory Pride Recruiting orientations, Interview to Impress and a Mock Interview. Students interested in obtaining an internship should also attend one of the Pride Recruiting orientation sessions. All sessions are held at The Career Center. Education Recruitment ProgramThe Education Recruitment Program is an interview event where students have the opportunity to apply and be preselected for interviews by both local and out-of-state school districts and charter schools. Schools will be looking to preselect students for interviews for a variety of certified teaching, administrative and counseling-related positions for the 2011-2012 school year. To participate in the program, students must be in their FINAL academic year at Hofstra University and receiving state certification to practice in a public school. This is an opportunity open to undergraduate and graduate students in their FINAL year at Hofstra; December 2010, May and August 2011 Hofstra graduates are eligible. Eligible students must attend one of the mandatory Education Recruitment orientation sessions listed below to learn more about and gain access to the program. RSVP via Pride-CMS on the MyApps feature of the Hofstra portal. Please note that all sessions start promptly at The Career Center unless noted otherwise.

Real Estate @ Work Information SessionThe Real Estate @ Work program is designed to expose students to the many facets of the real estate business as they prepare for their careers. Applicants accepted into the program are given the opportunity to visit six real estate companies with offices on Long Island. Site visits occur on Friday afternoons. Students MUST have Friday afternoons available to participate in this program. Each company is engaged in a different aspect of the real estate industry. The visits allow students to experience firsthand what goes on day-to-day in the business environment. This program is open to juniors and first-semester seniors. ASQ-LI’s Fifth Annual Lean Six Sigma Symposium Undergraduate and graduate students interested in computer science and information technology are invited to attend the ASQ-LI’s Fifth Annual Lean Six Sigma Symposium at Hofstra University. This full-day event is composed of a set of activities, where students can learn from industry mentors important Lean, Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma concepts. Students will have the opportunity to meet ASQ panelists who will present on making improvements within their organizations. Students are invited to meet with ASQ members during lunch break between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Students will have a chance to network and gain valuable advice from hiring managers. Professionals will be happy to review resumes and provide interview advice.

Powerful Speaking With Jamil White Jamil White is a senior accountant of production finance at Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) Washington, D.C., corporate headquarters. White currently manages the capitalization and amortization process for BET’s programming, and he helps determine the profitability of the network’s programming. Employ“ability”As future employees, college students face unique challenges. They must find a way to meet specific qualifications of a desired job, as well as demonstrate transferable skills such as communication, trouble-shooting, decision-making, leadership, and problem solving. They must also determine whether or not they will need accommodations to help them succeed in their jobs. This panel discussion with employers and alumni is designed to assist students in identifying opportunities and the assets needed to obtain successful employment.
