Work Examples - Word The Hershey company would like to fulfill all of their commitments, but they also want to make sure that they do this ethically and legally. This is why they outline the necessary ethical behaviors that the company expects all employees, officers and directors to follow. Also everyone that does work on the company's behalf is required to follow The Hershey Company's code of conduct as well. This includes consultants, agents, suppliers and business partners that have to follow Hershey's code of conduct as well as their own. The employees have to familiarize with all laws, policies, and regulations that apply to their jobs. They also have to immediately report any known or suspected any ethical or legal misconduct. They do this to try to act as role models for the for the rest of the industry. They want to make the best working environment possible where employees are comfortable and able to ask questions. It is the managers responsibility to make sure that all employees read the code of conduct and also understand it.

The Hershey Company fulfills their commitments in many ways and are able to do so while still following their code of conduct. For example The Hershey Company is fulfilling their commitment to the global community by using recyclable packaging, reducing the materials that they use in their packaging, and reducing CO2 emissions in the creation of their products. They believe in making and delivering their products in a way that is both environmentally sustainable and fulfill their responsibility to others. On the other hand, The Hershey Company has not always followed through with their responsibilities. For example some of the cocoa farms that produce for Hershey don't have acceptable working environments for their employees. Many are overworked and underpaid. Also there have been some child labor law concerns from these farms in the past. Hershey is committed to a safe working environment and yet they still dealt with these cocoa farms in order to keep the cost of their products down. Recently however Hershey has decided on to buy from certified buyers that guarantee there are safe working environments and fair pay. Competitors of Hershey have been practicing that for quite some time and Hershey has just recently began doing that.

Accounting case study excerpt2. What is meant by fraudulent financial reporting? How might fraud occur in the financial

reports? Does it exist at Sito?

Fraudulent financial reporting is intending to misrepresent a company's financial

statements through not completing all aspects of the statement or using unacceptable accounting

principles that falsify the financial statements (Duska, Duska & Ragatz, 2011). The

organizations have to use reasonable formulas that correctly show the company's estimates.

These have to be consistent from year to year and justifiable consistently as well (Duska, Duska

& Ragatz, 2011). If there are inconsistencies in the financial reports, then there is the chance of

fraudulent financial reporting. In this case the reports of the company called Sito are inconsistent

with each other. Sito is responsible to create accurate financial reports because they are about to

bought out by the larger company of American Artifacts. There is an existent inconsistency in

the financial report of Sito, but whether it is on purpose or not is still up in the air. Regardless

Sito would be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies because ignorance is not a defense

in this case.
