Church members have to be constantly reminded that the career ministry exists!

Pray for the unemployed and under employed in church and in meetings.

Encourage members to list job opportunities on the career ministry job board.

Encourage career ministry participants to post their resume (or anonymous “looking for..” listing) on the ministry job board.

Encourage church members to tell nonmembers about the career ministry.

What are the steps to start?1. Talk with your church board about a career

ministry, or ask me to speak with them.2. Assess the need by surveying your

members.3. Develop a plan of action.4. Solicit volunteers from the membership.5. Train the volunteers.6. Build your communications tool (web site) 7. Promote the ministry for at least 30 days

prior to the first meeting.8. Launch!

Page 16: Career Ministries Seminar Ppt 97 03version

We can talk with your church leadership. We can train your church volunteer

facilitators to lead the ministry. We can start the ministry using our

facilitators until you find and train yours. We can teach the one day “Quick Start”

workshops and weekly support meetings. We can provide a career ministry web site

that links to your main church web site. Our goal is to equip your church to help

job seekers.

Pray as though everything depended on God; then work as if everything depended on you!

The people we need to minister to are the least, the lost, the lonely, and the last.

Some people feel victimized by God because they don’t have work.

We need to meet people at their point of need.

At the First Baptist church in Leesburg, FL, over 50% of the people who have been saved and baptized came into the church through their ministries.

Depending on the economy 1/3 to ½ of alljob hunters give up by the second month of their job search.

As of August 2008 there were 41,750 persons unemployed in Hillsborough county!
