Introduction

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics employment in the U.S. is expected to increase by 21.3 million jobs over the period 2000-2012.

Jobs requiring a postsecondary or vocational degree or award will account for 42% of total job growth during this period.

Introduction

The Hudson Institute’s Workforce Center indicates that Baby Boomers are leaving the workforce in unprecedented numbers.

This departure will leave a need for skilled and trained workers which will unlikely be filled by the sector of untrained and unskilled workers who are becoming known as “techno-peasants”.
