owned and operated. Each location may offer different classes and have different accreditation.

DESCRIPTION OF SCHOOL FACILITIES

The New Horizons Computer Learning Center of St. Louis is located in the new state-of-the-art training facility

at the corner of Page and Lindbergh, 2122 Kratky Rd., St. Louis, MO 63114. The facility provides classrooms

tailored for hands-on leaning including enough equipment for one computer per person, a high-speed Internet

connection in every classroom terminal, and classrooms with ceiling-mounted projection and white board

equipment for appropriate visual aid. The facility provides a convenient break area for students. The facility

consists of 8 total classrooms equipped with current computer hardware required for the study of computer

related applications and information technology. Courseware for each class delivered by the training facility is

issued to every attending student for them to keep and use in pursuit of their training objectives.

The building is fully handicapped-accessible in compliance with the American Disabilities Act. The training

premises are located on the second floor of the building with open elevator access from the first to the second

floor. The on-site parking area has several large handicapped parking spaces in addition to ample parking for

all facility trainees. The hallways and interior walking areas of the building are much wider than code, and can

easily accommodate either wheelchair or automated wheelchair accessibility. Both male and female restroom

facilities are handicapped-accessible and the classroom learning labs have tabletop PCs on desks with rollaway

chairs which can be removed to easily accommodate wheelchair bound clients. Access to public

transportation is conveniently available nearby.

The number of faculty and instructional staff currently employed by the institution is sufficient to properly

serve the number of students enrolled within our programs of training. Each class is Instructor-led in a

classroom. Each class offering has an enrollment cap – a set number of students permitted into a class – in

order to maintain the optimum student to instructor ratio to facilitate learning. In the event a class offering

exceeds its enrollment cap, the institution promptly schedules an additional class offering to adequately

service the total number of students enrolled.

GENERAL GUIDELINES A student may enter the school facility at any time during open hours for classes, lab work or just study periods with other peers. The school recommends that the student take the classes in the order listed under the program curriculum. The program completion is determined by the date that the student completes all of the required classes for their individual program. All classes are awarded a certificate upon completion. Students may wish to complete a program faster or slower if enrolled in the school’s Mentored Learning Program. New Horizons offers many methods of learning, Online Live, Instructor Led, and Mentored Learning. We recognize many students learn differently and as such offer multiple modalities of learning.

A student may get council from their assigned Admissions Representative and alter the speed of the program if they are in a program that qualifies for that type of training. All other courses offered by New Horizons are published quarterly with classes starting at 8:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm led. These schedules can be located on our website, www.newhorizonsstl.com. Students must attend a minimum of 80% of class time. Attendance as well as academic progress standards will be applied to meet program or course completion status. (Five day class, must attend minimum 4 days) Students may repeat any class as many times as they wish up to six months from first day of each class. This is a benefit New Horizons offers all students to reinforce learning. Online Live Technical Requirements The New Horizons Online LIVE® learning environment consists of our online classroom and many courses include an online lab component. Both are accessed seamlessly through our online web based learning management system. Before your course begins your local center will reach out to you and ensure your system is properly configured. For the best experience, we recommend students systems include: System Requirements 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor with at least 1 GB of system memory Microsoft Windows Vista SP2 or higher A supported web browser (See the list below) Monitor with a minimum screen resolution 1280 x 960 and at least with 16-bit color depth (1280 x 1024 or higher 32 bit color depth recommended) High speed Internet connection (200 Kb/s per user with 1 Mb burst capacity) Supported Browsers Windows XP/ Vista IE 7 and higher, Firefox 3.5 and Higher Windows 7 - Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 4.0

POLICY STATEMENT

The school does not discriminate regarding race, color, creed and/or religion. The training offered by the school

is also recommended to handicapped persons who are unable to undertake strenuous vocations or lack the

mobility required by other occupations.

DISCLAIMER

All prices for programs are as printed herein. The price of a training program includes a $50.00 program

registration fee, tools and supplies which includes courseware, exam prep and exam vouchers and tuition cost.

There are no additional costs or supplies necessary for program completion. Those Students who wish to

purchase additional study materials may do so at an additional cost from the school. Each student is

responsible for his or her personal books and supplies. Extra books and supplies may be purchased from the

school but are not to be borrowed from another student or the school.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Payment in full for class is required prior to the first day of said class unless financial services have

been arranged.

FINANCIAL AID

New Horizons Computer Learning Center of St. Louis offers financial services through SLM Financial

Corporation. The student may apply with SLM Financial for a student loan. Upon receiving approval

and payment, the student will be registered.

APPLYING FOR ADMISSION AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students may apply for admission by scheduling an appointment with an Admissions Representative.

An applicant must be at least 18 years of age. It is mandatory that a student provide proof of either a

high school diploma or a GED. It is also mandatory that the applicant have a good command of the

English language as our classes are taught in English.

A student wishing to apply for enrollment may attend one (one day PC class) session prior to entering

the program at no cost. Students are encouraged to attend the class to determine his or her level of

commitment and financial obligation.

Each student is assigned an Admissions Representative that interviews the student prior to any

program. The Admissions Representative will continue to monitor the student as well as counsel

them through each program. Each Admissions Representative is trained to counsel students in

specific programs that the school offers.

Should a student already have pre-requisite level knowledge of a particular subject matter they can

elect to take an assessment test to determine if they may bypass any pre-requisites without taking

instruction in a particular pre-requisite class. This is permissible only with prior approval from the

Director of Education. There is no cost to the student to take an assessment test.

DRESS CODE

New Horizons Computer Learning Center maintains a quality learning environment. Dress should not

distract from the learning environment. Students should use good judgment when deciding what to

wear.

Students that do not adhere to the Dress Code may first be reprimanded by their Admissions

Representative, Instructor, Director of Admissions or General Manager. A reprimand consists of a

verbal reminder of the Dress Code. If student is found repeatedly disobeying the Dress Code policy,

the punishment may be probation which is a formal written warning indicating to the student that if

they repeatedly disobey the Dress Code policy it may result in termination or expulsion from school.

Examples of unacceptable attire:

Tops with spaghetti straps, halter tops, tube tops

Athletic gear including bike shorts, mesh shorts, and rippled-sleeve shirts

Clothing items with inappropriate or unhealthy language or logos

Clothing items that do not provide appropriate coverage of the midriff, back or undergarments

CLASS STARTING & ENDING DATES

A student may enter the school at any time. The school recommends that the student take the classes

in the order listed under the program curriculum. The date of completion is determined by the date

that the student completes all of the required classes for each program. All classes are awarded a

certificate upon completion. Students may wish to complete a program faster or slower. A student

may get council from their assigned Admissions Representative and alter the speed of the program if

the schedule permits.

Students must attend a minimum of 80% of class time. (Five day class, must attend minimum 4 days)

Students may repeat any class as many times as they wish up to six months from first day of each class.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Satisfactory academic progress and completion is measured by class attendance and assessments for

exam preparation. A student is given a certification of completion for every course he/she has

successfully completed. Satisfactory academic progress is indicated by receipt of a passing grade.

Students will receive a grade of either Pass (P) or Fail (F) contingent upon adhering to the

requirements mentioned above and completing all instructor-led classroom labs and projects. Grades

will be received by students within 30 days of their last program date.

New Horizons monitors progress by class attendance and assessments for exam

preparation. New Horizons monitors this progress on a weekly basis to determine if a

student is performing at a satisfactory level determined by their attendance and

assessments. If a student is deemed as not satisfactorily making academic progress, they

will be notified immediately the week thereafter, by their Admissions representative in

writing notifying them that improvements must be made to achieve a passing grade (P).

Students must attend a minimum of 80% of class time. (Five day class, must attend

minimum 4 days)

The consequences for failure to maintain satisfactory academic progress are as follows: The

student will not be allowed to move on to their next scheduled class until the previous class

whereby, satisfactory academic progress was not met has been retaken and satisfactory

academic progress has been achieved. Should the student retake the given class and still

not meet satisfactory academic progress, the Director of Education and the student’s

instructor will meet with the student to determine the best course of action moving

forward, not limited to one on one instruction session and tutoring to catch the student up

to speed. Every effort will be made to aid the student in meeting satisfactory academic

progress.

Students may wish to complete a program faster or slower if enrolled in the school’s

Mentored Learning Program. New Horizons offers many methods of learning, Online Live,

Instructor Led, and Mentored Learning. We recognize many students learn differently and as

such offer multiple modalities of learning.

STUDENT SERVICES

Student Records/Transcripts:

Student records or transcripts are permanently retained by the school and are available

to students upon individual request. Student records will be provided to potential

employers only after the student has made written request. There is no cost associated

with requesting a student record or transcript.

Testing:

Certification testing is provided on site at the school. The school is an Authorized

Prometric and VUE Testing Center. All testing records are maintained by Prometric as

well as by VUE. Students are required to take their certification exams upon completion

of their class. New Horizons will provide the testing voucher to the student. The student

is provided copies of all test scores upon testing or by request.

Qualifications:

The test is monitored by a test Center Administrator who has been certified by

Sylvan Prometric and VUE.

Student Placement:

I understand that the School has not made and will not make any guarantees of

employment or salary upon my graduation. If included in my individual program the school

will provide me with placement assistance, which will consist of resume and cover letter

preparation, interview coaching and mentoring, and identifying employment opportunities

and advising me on the appropriate means of attempting to realize these opportunities.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Attendance/Class Cuts/No Shows:

Technical programs require 80% attendance. After missing one day in any class, the student

is counseled by their Admissions Representative. If a student is not making the 80%

attendance required by the program, the Admissions Representative and the Director of

Education will counsel the student. The school will request that the student make up the

days missed to ensure student’s success. If the student does not show for a class without

canceling or rescheduling they will be put on probation. There is a one-year time period on

completion of any program without further charge.

Tardiness:

A student arriving after attendance has been taken is considered late. The instructor

will mark the amount of time unless the instructor considers the reason for tardiness

legitimate. All class time missed in excess of 15 minutes must be made up by the

student prior to graduation. If the student arrives late and instructor cannot catch up

student without interrupting the others in class, the student may be required to make

up the entire day.

Class Cancellation:

Please notify the school five or more business days in advance of your scheduled

applications class if you need to cancel or reschedule (Technical training courses require

10 business days cancellation notice). Cancellations may be made by calling the school or

your Admissions Representative. If the student does not show up for the scheduled class

without canceling or rescheduling, they will be put

on probation. If the school cancels the class for any reason the student will be notified 5

business days prior and given dates to reschedule for a later offering. The student then may

choose whether they want to take the class at the later offering or be provided a full

refund.

Conduct:

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. Foul

language, possession of non-prescribed drugs or alcoholic beverages, and disrespectful

behavior is considered unsatisfactory conduct and may be grounds for dismissal. A

student who conducts himself in a manner detrimental to the school, staff or other

students will be terminated. Theft or property from the school or other students is

grounds for immediate dismissal.

Students that do not adhere to the Conduct Policy above may first be reprimanded by their

Admissions Representative, Instructor, Director of Admissions or General Manager. A

reprimand consists of a verbal reminder of Conduct Policy. If student is found repeatedly

disobeying the Conduct Policy, the punishment may be probation which is a formal written

warning indicating repeat

behavior results in termination or immediate expulsion from school. If behavior is severe

enough, student may be escorted from building and asked not to return resulting in

immediate termination without initial reprimand or probation.

Makeup work:

Students absent for any reason are required to make up any missed classes before

proceeding to the next course of study. A student may make up missed time by attending

another class in session or attending Saturday or night classes, which are conducted for

other students.

Probation:

A student that does not adhere to the attendance policy will be placed on probation

for 30 days. Should the student be absent while on probation, he will be counseled by

the General Manager, which could result in termination.

Interruptions in Training/Termination:

Should a student fail to learn the required skills, the student is permitted to re-take the

classes within a six (6) month period. The retaking of such classes is of no extra costs to the

student. If the student fails to achieve a passing grade the second time, he/she is counseled

by the Director of Education as to the advisability of continuing. If the student fails to

achieve a passing grade, the student will not be awarded a Certificate of Completion. If a

student does not learn the required skills to obtain a passing grade he/she will be

terminated. If a student doesn’t call to cancel or doesn’t show for three (3) courses

consecutively out of their program, he/she will be terminated for unsatisfactory

attendance.

When a student has attempted yet failed to make progress, they are entitled to a

refund payment, based on the standard refund policy. However, if a refund is made

they will not be permitted to continue their classes.

Leaves of Absence:

A student may be granted a leave of absence for a reasonable amount of time as

determined by the General Manager. A request for a leave of absence must be in writing

and the date of expected return must be specified.

Re-entry:

A student that has canceled or has been terminated and desires to re-enter the program of

study must notify the school and follow the required admission procedures. A student that

was terminated for any reason must have an interview with the Director and show cause

why he/she should be re-instated. The decision of the Director is final.

Appeal:

Students may appeal decisions made by their Admissions Representative in regards to

academic or disciplinary action to the school director. Such appeal must be made in the

form of a letter and be delivered certified US mail. The decision of the school Director is

final.

Progress:

New Horizons monitors progress by class attendance and assessments for exam preparation. A student is given a certification of completion for every course he/she has successfully completed.

Grievance Policy:

Student grievances may involve academic matters, administrative matters, or

discrimination. Grievances, other than those involving discrimination charges, will be

handled through the regular chain of authority (Admissions Representative, Director,

General Manager, President/Owner). A grievant who is not satisfied with a decision at one

level may appeal the grievance to the next level of authority. The Owner/President of

New Horizons of St Louis is the final authority in any grievance. Information and

discussions concerning the resolution of a grievance will be maintained in as confidential a

manner as possible so as to protect the interests of all parties.

Every attempt should be made to resolve all grievances informally. However, the student has the right to submit a formal, written grievance. Grievances should be submitted in writing at each level of authority within 5 calendar days of the action being grieved or within 5 calendar days of the decision being appealed. A written response will normally be made to the grievant within 5 calendar days unless circumstances require additional time for consideration.

Grievances involving discrimination because of race, color, creed, sex, disability,

religion, national origin, sexual preference, or age should be made to the affirmative

action officer (New Horizons of St Louis General Manager) who will handle the

grievance in conformance with state and federal statutes governing such cases.

Should a student be dissatisfied with the resolution that is offered by the school, such

student can contact the Missouri Department of Higher Education at (573) 751 2361 for

information on filing a formal grievance.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Should a student be terminated or cancel for any reason, refunds will be made according to

the below listed refund schedule.

1. Cancellation must be made in writing. The official termination date will be the date of

letter receipt. This letter must be addressed to the Director of Education.

1. All monies will be refunded if the school does not accept the applicant or if the student

cancels within three (3) business days (exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays) after

signing the enrollment agreement.

2. A student may also cancel upon a doctor’s order clearly stating they cannot physically receive the

services, or may cancel the contract if the services cease to be offered as stated in the contract.

a. If a student cancels upon a doctor’s order, and has received some of the services and/or

associated goods, New Horizons may keep a portion of the contract price equal to a pro rata

portion of the total price representing the proportion of services used or completed, plus the

cost of any related goods which student has retained, as fair compensation for the services

received or materials provided.

b. If a student cancels upon a doctor’s order, and has not received any of the services and/or

associated goods, New Horizons will provide a full refund of the training price.

c. If a student cancels the contract because the services cease to be offered as stated in

the contract, New Horizons will provide a full refund of the training price.

3. Cancellation after attendance has begun, but prior to first class completion of the

program, will result in a $150.00 cancellation fee and a pro rata refund computed on the

number of hours completed to the total program hours. All kits and books received by the

student will also be considered in the pro rata refund amount. These books and kits are non-

returnable after the student has opened them.

4. Cancellation after completing 50% of the Program will result in no refund. Cancellation

requests made later than 12-months after the original invoice date for courses in a student’s

Program of training, wherein the courses were offered by the school but delivery not accepted

by the student, will result in no refund.

5. If a student misses the 1st day of a required Program course after confirming their intent

to attend via telephone or email WITHOUT notifying the school prior to the course start date,

that class will appear on their transcript as a “No-Show” for attendance purposes, program

material will be delivered to the student in-person or via signature-required certified mail a

minimum of three days after the start of class, and that course will count as having been

delivered for purposes of computing potential Program cancellation/refund totals. The student

may attend the next available offering of that required Program course at no additional charge.

As long as the student notifies the school of their inability to attend a required Program class

prior to the starting date of that class, no penalty will be applied. If the student provides

notification they will be attending the second day of class, or subsequent days of training, our

standard 80% attendance policy will remain in effect. Please note: in the case of student

attending the subsequent days of training and meeting our 80% attendance policy, the student

would not be considered as “withdrawn. Also, if the student signs their enrollment agreement

the day prior to the first day of class, and provides a cancellation notice within our three-day

cancellation period, the student’s status will be considered “cancelled” and they will receive a

full refund.

6. Termination Date: In calculating the refund due to a student, a pro rata refund

computed on the number of hours completed to the total program hours. All kits and

books received by the student will also be considered in the pro rata refund amount.

7. Refunds will be made within 30 days of termination or receipt of cancellation notice.

8. A student can be dismissed, at the discretion of the Director, for insufficient progress,

non-payment of costs, or failure to comply with rules.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY:

Students may withdraw from a program by alerting their Admissions representative or

Director of Education either verbally or in writing. If notification is made verbally either on

the phone or in person, the student will receive written notification of their withdrawal via

email or letter within 48 hours of receipt of such notification. Please refer to the

cancellation policy listed within the Student Catalog/Handbook for more information.

MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS

NIKHIL PATEL

Nikhil Patel has over 15 year’s experience working in the IT/IS filed. He has over 7 years’

experience developing/writing courseware, training young adults/adults, and performing

onsite consultant projects. This training has been provided at the business, professional

training organization, and university levels. He enjoys sharing his immense pool of experience
