CARE FOR VETERANS AND EARN A DEBT-FREE DEGREE

“I still have a very large amount of medical school debt to service. The EDRP program helps to accelerate the pay off dramatically.”

— Dr. Stephen Gau, board-certified emergency medicine physician, VA Loma Linda Healthcare System in California

Choose VA for the Benefits

With EDRP, VA offers medical professionals a powerful recruitment and retention incentive through one of the most comprehensive eduction support programs in the nation. Employees with qualifying student loans who are in specific, difficult-to-recruit direct patient care positions may receive up to $200,000 over a five-year period (not to exceed $40,000 per year).

EDRP is a reimbursement program — participants receive annual reimbursements for payments to lenders. Education debt includes funds spent on tuition and other reasonable educational and living expenses such as fees, books, supplies, equipment and materials, and laboratory costs.

VA positions offering EDRP are noted in vacancy announcements. Candidates applying for positions noncompetitively should inquire about the program with human resources prior to negotiation. If offered, EDRP will be included in the final VA employment offer letter.

Eligible Applicants

Earned a degree from an accredited school or program.
