Kaba CurryJapanese Curry House & More

Curry isn’t the only specialty of Kaba Curry. Their one-of-a-kind desserts include chantilly Kaba Cakes, Haupiachocolate mousse pie, and Midori Mashup among others.

Las Vegas locals know that when wintercomes, it slaps you in the face and freezesyou to your bones. Our community of carenthusiasts know first hand that gatheringfor meets becomes sparse. We can be-grudgingly stand outside and freeze and lieabout how cold we are, or just simply gohome. However, now imagine a place thatwelcomes you for the community you rep-resent. A place whose warm deliciousJapanese curry hits you right in the soul.Welcome to Kaba Curry.

Kaba Curry is the Las Vegas pioneer ofthe Japanese curry movement. They boasta delicious menu combining both Japanesecurry and Hawaiian food. The menu startsoff with a base, either curry and rice, curryand cheese fries, curry udon, even curryloco moco! You then choose your delicioussides, toppings, and spice level with whichto create your masterpiece. Chicken katsu, chicken karaage, corned beef hash patty,Japanese sausage, fried tofu, egg, corn, mushrooms, fukujinzuke are just a glimpseof Kaba Curry’s menu. I could go on and on

and on about the food they have to offer, but it’s the people behind the scenes ofKaba Curry that will keep you coming back.

From the moment you walk in the doorsof their restaurant located on the secondfloor of the Pacific Asian Plaza, you’regreeted by their wonderful people. Moreoften than not you’ll find the owners mak-ing the food you put in your belly. Theydon’t forget a face either. I myself havebeen coming to Kaba Curry for so long, that they know my exact order: Curry Udonspice level number 3, with chicken karaage, fried tofu, mushrooms and cheese. Justthinking about it makes my mouth water.

The story that we tell about Kaba Curry ishumble beginnings between a group offriends who knew the way to someone'sheart, was through their stomach. Provid-ing delicious food and good vibes, KabaCurry is a home away from home, a placeto chill with your friends, and even makenew friends while you’re there.

Meet Joe Warner, a Navy Veteran fromColorado Springs, Colorado. It was inColorado where his love of perform-ance cars began. “Whether is wassunny or snowing or just freezing coldoutside, we used to roll down the streetwith jackets on and the heater blastingwith the windows down.” It all startedwith his first car, a supercharged CobaltSS. From then he upgraded to a turbo’dCobalt SS and he thought he washappy. It wasn’t until he followed hisbrother Chris Warner out to Las Vegaswhen he began to change his mind.Chris owns an Evo X, and Joe wouldn't

stand around and let his little brotherone-up him.“I was always an STI fan, but once I gotin the Evo I knew I had to get one. Ipreferred the way it drove, and I knewthe 4G63 platform in the Evo IX wasgoing to be a good starting out pointfor me.” The opportune moment camewhen a local was looking to sell hisRally Red Evo IX. This wasn’t just anyregular Evo; the previous owner kept itgaraged most of the time, had lowmiles, and the paint was pristine andhis peers certainly appreciated. When Joe isn’t busy saving>>>

eautiful, affordable and fun todrive. Those are words thatwould attract any person to the2013 Subaru BRZ. “The BRZ can

accommodate 2 car seats for my kids, that was the deciding factor.” This fam-ily man tell us about his 2013 Super-charged Subaru BRZ-- how it affects hislife and family’s life.

“Family means a lot to me.” We knewthat Brad’s kids were a huge factorwhen it came to purchasing the newRWD from Subaru. It came down towhether the car could haul his familyaround. “I take my daughter to pre-

school in the BRZ. We have the optionto take our SUV, but she always seemsto have the most fun in the sports car.She loves how loud it is.” Brad also in-forms us that his kids have become carenthusiasts as well! His toddlers can tellyou when they see a BRZ. “They’ll say-Daddy! Daddy! That’s your car.” All weknow, is that this dad is teaching hiskiddos right! But where would Brad bewithout his adoring wife? “She is mysponsor! She knows that it was this carthat got me into the car scene; itopened the door. It introduced me tocar shows and track days.”>>>

Brad is part of Vegas 86 car club, “Thecar attracts such a huge variety of peo-ple, and what brings us together areour cars. We have bbqs that encouragefamilies to come out as well.” He sawthat different members involved them-selves in everything from car shows, toautocross, and everything in between.Brad’s very first track day was only re-cently where he attended Speed Ven-tures at Spring Mountain MotorsportsRanch. “It was a blast. Such a learningexperience. I got to see what the car

could do on the track. It was one wayto compare a naturally aspirated BRZ,versus a supercharged BRZ.” The Inno-vate Twin Screw Supercharger is Brad’smost recent edition to his car. Tuned byWilliam Knose at Delicious Tuning, Bradhas high hopes for his BRZ when hetake takes it back to the track.

He has made the car all this own withthe unique vinyl on the car (that he de-signed himself), CS style lips kit on topof other mods. We can’t wait to see

what else Brad Fore will be doing withhis supercharged BRZ, but we knowthat whatever it is, his family will bethere by his side.Mods:Innovate Twin Screw Superchargertuned by William Knose @DeliciousTuning, Rev Works UEL header, SRTheader back exhaust, Rota Torque18x9.5 wheels with Nitto NT555 tires,CS style lip kit, custom vinyl stripe

What do you like to do on your timeoff? Most of my free time involves justhanging around my friends andfamily. When I was younger, I was reallyinvolved in basketball. Now my time isspend with work, school, and spendingtime with my boyfriend.

What’s your favorite Vegas hang out?Just my house. Is that super lame?(laugher) It’s really cozy, I just like havingmy friends over, having hookah, watch-ing movies, having a glass of wine, justchilling.

How did you get into the car scene?I have always loved cars, it’s kind of inmy family. Muscle cars more than any-thing else. I’ve always just thought theimport scene was super cool, but I didn’tknow much about it. It was my boyfriendArthur who introduced me to the scene;he taught me everything. I had my Scion

TC when we first met. I told him I wantedto make it super cool. I had just startedmy new job, was living at home at thetime, and I had a lot of extra cash. Wejust went all for it.

What drew you to your car?I thought it was cute, sporty, sleek andwasn’t too expensive (that kind ofworked too, still being in highschool), Igot my car (TC) right at the beginning ofcollege.

Do you attend any car shows? Meets?Events? As far as local meets I go toWestside Wednesdays. I’ve also attendedSlammed Society Showcase and IFO (Im-port Face Off). The first year I went (toIFO) I got a second place trophy for bestScion. That was really really neat. I lovegoing to shows, seeing other people’scars, meeting people, and it’s been awe-some so far.

Affilitated with any clubs? Groups? No, it’s really not my thing. I really re-spect everyone and I support what peo-ple do, I just don’t think it’s really for me.

I support my boyfriend when he goes tohis VegasEvos meets (he has an Evo X),but other than that I tend to stay awayfrom affiliations.

Any future plans for your car?Yeah, definitely! Im dying to do a flatrose-red color wrap at 5150 Wraps. Iwant to do that next year once I’ve savedfrom extra cash. That means changingthe color of my wheels, either re-pow-dercoating my current wheels, or chang-

ing them entirely to Rotiform Wheels..we’ll see I guess.

Who would you like to Thank?Arthur for helping me with everything. He taught me everything I know aboutmy car, this is a project car for the bothof us. My friends for having to drive me tocertain places; my car is so low, I can’tdrive it everywhere!

I love going to shows, seeing other people’scars, meeting people,

Like Father like Daughter: Both Lani andher dad Rolando’s, first car was aChevrolet Camaro; Coincidence? Wethink not! We’ll let you in on a little se-cret.

Meet 24 year old Lani Albano. Sheworks as a graphic designer at BallyTechnologies. With her free time, sheloves to sleep (who doesn’t?) and en-joys spending time with her sister andniece. Her boyfriend Lauder is “ob-sessed with his car” as she puts it, andlately has been joining him at local Ve-gasEvos meets. “It’s my new thing, going to these meets now. I get to goto my favorite Vegas hangout which isKaba Curry. They have the most deli-cious Japanese curry.”

What we’ve gathered about Lani upuntil this point is she is corporate byday, awesome girlfriend by night, lovesher sleep and Japanese curry, but westill don’t know much about her love ofcars. “I grew up with a lot of guycousins that were all into cars, one ofmy cousins was even a pro drag racer.

My dad worked at Garrett on the linefor making turbos, so I’ve always kindof been around cars.” How many peo-ple can say that their dad worked forone of the most (if not THE most) wellrecognized manufacturers of turbos inexistence? That’s awesome. Now whenit came to Lani’s dream car she said atone point she wanted an Audi. Deci-sions decisions.

Lani is cornered. Her choice is simple:side with the tuner enthusiasts, or ger-man engineering. But what’s this.. Awild Camaro appears! How is it that shechooses an almost non existent optionin a Chevy Camaro SS? You can thankgood ol’ pops for that.

When the day came around for Lani topurchase her first car, there were nooptions. “No Audi for Lani. A V8 is bet-ter. She needed a sports car, morepower, more styling”, says Rolando.Since she was young, Lani knew thatdad’s 1978 Chevy Camaro meant theworld to him. It was Rolando’s first cartoo. “I like sports cars. My car is 5.0

American muscle. No A/C. This car ismy first wife”. We gawked about hishistory with Garrett Turbos too, “Yes, Iworked for Honeywell for over 21years”, and he laughs it off like it wasnothing! Lani knew she made the rightchoice; following in her father’s foot-steps. “It was my papa’s car that drewme to my dream car. My dream car iseven black and yellow, just like his.” Likefather like daughter.

Time has flown by with her Camaro-took it straight from the lot two yearsago and has had it ever since. Weasked if Lani had any future plans forher car. Her boyfriend certainly has anidea, “..exhaust, intake, supercharger. That’s coming as soon as her warrantyis up”, says Lauder. “Not right now. Ipaid extra for the warranty, I’m not try-ing to void that!” Smart girl.

“It was my papa’s car thatdrew me to my dream car.My dream car is even blackand yellow, just like his.”

Thomas Clark

Thomas Clark hasbeen building cars forover 20 years now. Other than an exotic,Thomas has pretty much owned everyother type of car you can imagine. Not tomention his love of bikes which includes hiscurrent 2012 GSXR 750. So what, do youask, is the reason that Thomas decided togo with the new Scion FRS? He tells usabout his love affair with his car and howhe’s been in love ever since.

“When I first saw the debut of thenew FT-86, I knew I had to have it.” Thomas’FRS has seen every type of road there is.Canyon runs in SoCal, mountain passesthrough Big Bear, traveling across hundredsof miles to his home state of Texas, andeverything in between, his 86 has neverfailed him. “I enjoy the car the way it is. I’m

able to slide it around corners, run it at thetrack, and it still gets great gas mileage! Forme it’s not about the power, it’s about thefeel and responsiveness. To feel every partof that curve of the road, not any car cangive you that feeling; my 86 does.”

With his skills and knowledge inthe automotive world, many pushedThomas to open his own business; he spe-cializes in retrofitting of headlights with hiscompany Illuminating Lightworx. His skillsdon’t stop there however, and he hasproven his work with the locals. He movedto Las Vegas after meeting some convinc-ing characters at local Vegas86 gatherings. He has future endeavors for his beloved 86,maybe even forced induction, but for nowhe’ll stay true to it’s reliability that has yet tofail him.

He has a history with Japanesesports cars, his first being a 1992 ToyotaMR2. “I loved the mid engine layout.Even though it was an automatic, I wasstill able to have fun and spin the cararound every corner.” His next step wasto take his love for street performanceonto his new project.

You’ll notice the trend in Louis’ car. Thefactory paint is called Raven, and it’spretty obvious where he got the inspira-tion from. The name Raven86 came toLouis once the car was being built andmodified to his likes. Everything fromblack headlight housings, blacked outtailights, even down to his emblems;unique was his target.

With a highly modified hatch and great team. We’re sureAM2 Motorsports will have no problems accomplishing theirgoals and dropping plenty of jaws along the way.

GM Brian Camacho is a prime example of the work thatthis shop puts into their cars. As AM2’s official shop car,Brian’s 1992 Civic Si H2B, is unlike any hatch you’ve seen be-fore. Bringing this car together was a test; every little pieceinstalled wasn’t just a project coming together, but a passioncoming to fruition. This was a car that was meant to be aprime example of what can happen when you put in qualityparts and quality work.

A big thanks is also due to Team Hybrid, a large communityof race/street/show cars that welcomed Brian into their familyand gave him the opportunity to show his car.
