The feeling of hitting the open road in America is superb and renting a car allows you the ultimate in flexibility and freedom. Our chosen and trusted partner, Alamo, is one of the most recognised brands in the car rental industry. With depots across the country and an extensive fleet of modern, reliable, air-conditioned vehicles, you can discover the USA in your own way, and at your own pace. Plan your own route or choose from our carefully selected and pre- planned self-drive holidays on pages 20-27. Car Rental Third Party Liability Coverage (Already included in the cost of your hire) Unlike in Britain, where unlimited third party liability coverage is mandatory, laws in the US only require a bare minimum of third party coverage – in some states as little as $20,000. Although this minimum third party coverage is included in the rental hire, it could well leave you seriously financially exposed in the event of a claim against you. Therefore, we have chosen to include up to $1 million Liability Coverage and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) in our prices. Both of these are important for your peace of mind and protection. $1 Million Liability Coverage (LP) (Already included in the cost of your hire) LP provides you with up to $1,000,000 coverage for accidental death or injury to you or your passengers (if related by blood, marriage or adoption), should you be hit by a negligent uninsured, under-insured or hit & run motorist. For your peace of mind and financial protection, we have included this essential cover free of charge in our rental packages. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) (Already included in the cost of your hire) Alamo’s CDW protects you against damage to the Alamo car (including theft and vandalism), regardless of who is at fault (rentals in New York State are subject to a $100 excess). Without Alamo’s CDW, you (the renter) would be personally responsible for any damage up to the full value of your Alamo vehicle. The daily cost is $20.99 plus tax, if purchased locally in the US, however CDW is already included in our prices. Deposit The renter must pay a deposit of $100 per week or $25 per day upon collecting the vehicle, to cover all charges other than the basic rental portion covered by the voucher e.g. one way fees etc. Payment may be by cash or major credit card (UK bank debit cards are not accepted). Local Fees and Taxes (Already included in the cost of your hire) Incidental costs such as local access fees, airport user fees and local taxes, are usually payable locally on all rentals and are always based on the total value of the car rental. These can be surprisingly high, up to 10% at off-airport locations and 16% at on-airport locations. All these taxes have been included in our pre-purchased prices. Pre-Registration Alamo has introduced a quick and easy way to speed up your car hire experience with ‘Direct Road’. Spending a minute or two pre-registering before you travel will save time at the rental counter when you pick up your car. Full details will be provided with your travel documentation. Additional/Underage Drivers Unless opting for Alamo Gold, additional drivers will be charged $10.00 plus tax per person per day upon pick-up, except on rentals in California and Nevada (where the first additional driver is free). This is subject to change without warning. All drivers must be 21 or over (18 or over in New York State & Michigan) and carry a full driver’s licence. Drivers under 25 incur an additional $25 per driver, per day ($49.37 per day recovery fee in New York State & Michigan) which has not been included in our prices.
