GENERATION 2. Samuel Whipple born at Dorchester/Norfolk/MA on 17
Mar.1644, died at Providence/Providence/R.I. on 12 Mar 1711. Married at
Providence/Providence/R.I.1667 to Mary Harris, born 1639, died
Providence/Providence/R.I. on 14 Dec. 1722.
Samuel Whipple lived and died in Providence R.I. The house was called the Abbott house and
was still standing in 1989. He was a constable in 1688. It is said he and his father before him
moved to Rhode Island to escape persecution, perhaps their views coinciding with those of
Roger Williams and his Rogerine Quaker Movement. (social reformers). His will proved 1n
1711 with sons Thomas and Samuel executors. To them equally 150 acres of land, and other
land to Thomas including the house in which he dwells. His son Noah 150 acres. He and his
wife were buried in North Burial Ground in Providence R.I.

GENERATION 3. Thomas Whipple born at Providence/Providence/R.I. abt. 1671,
died at Tolland/Tolland/CT. bef. 31 Mar 1766. Married abt.1697 to Abigail
Jenckes, born abt.1675.
Due to lack of land and high prices Thomas relocated to the village of Tolland/Bolton/CT from
R. I. He bought a place called Thomas Pond with 150 acres in the summer of 1718. His last
date of residence in R. I. was Oct 1717.
