All Capitol, Capitol Extension and Capitol Visitors Center facilities are accessible to persons with disabilities.

For special assistance with visiting or navigating the Capitol and Extension, contact the Capitol Information and Guide Service at 512.463.0063, email: [email protected] or visit their office in the Capitol 1S.2, in the first floor, south wing.

Parking in the Visitors Parking Garage (1201 San Jacinto Blvd.) is recommended to ensure an accessible route to all Capitol Square facilities.

Vehicles properly displaying a parking placard or parking license for people with disabilities may park at parking meters in the Capitol Complex for free at any time.

Watch for Accessible Route markers on the Capitol Grounds which indicate ADA compliant routes to and from all Grounds entrances, the Capitol’s North Entrance, the Capitol Visitors Center’s South Entrance and the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage.

A limited number of wheelchairs can be borrowed from the Capitol Information and Guide Service in the south wing, first floor of the Capitol building and or the Capitol Visitors Center with a photo ID during business hours (hours are subject to change). First come first served.

Visitors interested in Capitol history are encouraged to begin their tour at the Capitol Visitors Center, located in the Old General Land Office at the southeast corner of the Capitol Grounds.

Publications are available in large print versions and Braille for the Capitol, Capitol Visitors Center and Grounds. Brochures may be checked out and returned after use from the Capitol Information and Guide Service in Capitol 1S.2. Guided tours for the Capitol, Capitol Visitors Center and Governor’s Mansion using American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters can be given with one week’s advance notice. Please call 512.305.8402 for scheduling.

Two family use restrooms are available at the end of the tunnel leading from the Capitol north wing elevators to the underground Extension on level E2.
