Photo Caption: The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) was born in 1970 when a small band of passionate volunteers committed themselves to save the Emlen Physick Estate (shown here, above, circa 1970) from demolition. In the 50 years since, the organization has grown to become
a leading interpreter of Cape May history, culture and the arts. This landmark exhibit will highlight the organization’s history and its contribution to the preservation of historic Cape May, telling the story of an organization that has helped Cape May not only survive, but thrive. The exhibit “50 Years of MAC” opens Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. at the Carroll Gallery in the Carriage House of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., Cape May, N.J. Members of the public are invited to this free exhibit opening that will also feature the unveiling of new organizational branding, including a new name and a new website. The exhibit is presented by MAC and is open daily, Friday, March 27 through Sunday, Nov. 1; times vary. Admission is free. MAC is a multifaceted, not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors. MAC membership is open to all. For information about MAC’s year-round schedule of tours, festivals, and special events call 609-884-5404 or 800-275-4278, or visit MAC’s website at www.capemaymac.org.
