Relax in your comfortable reclining coach seat with leg rest. Roomettes or Bedrooms may be available at an additional cost. You’re free to explore the train. Go to the lounge car for snacks, sandwiches and beverages.

Eastern tour members will depart tomorrow for Boston.

Day 2: En RouteThe Lake Shore Limited will pass through Toledo, Cleveland and Erie early this morning. We will enjoy the passing scenery as we continue through the states of New York and Massachusetts to Boston.

Upper New York residents can board at Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica and Albany throughout the day.

Eastern and Mid-Atlantic travelers will arrive in Boston throughout the day and transfer to our hotel.

The Lake Shore Limited’s arrival into Boston is scheduled for 8:01 p.m.

We will transfer to the Colonnade Hotel, our home for the next two nights.

Day 3: BostonFollowing breakfast in our hotel this morning, we will set off on a sightseeing tour of this historic area.

Boston is the city where America’s roots were formed and riding through it is like reading the pages of an American history book. Our guide will point out sights along the Freedom Trail as well as the Boston Common and Public Gardens, the Back Bay, Beacon Hill and the gold-domed State House.

We’ll enjoy free time at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. For over 250 years the marketplace has played an integral role in the life of Boston’s residents. You will feel the cobblestones beneath your feet, see roaming performers and be

able to sample some wonderful foods for an “on-your-own” lunch.

This afternoon, those interested can take a walking tour with our guide. You’ll wander the narrow historical streets of Boston’s North End where the locals carefully maintain their deeply-rooted ties to Italian culture. Paul Revere’s House, Copp’s Hill Burying Ground and the New England Holocaust Memorial are just a few sights to view. The Old North Church was built in 1723 and is the oldest church in Boston that is still in operation. This is the site where sexton (a person who takes care of a church and rings the bells, etc.) Robert Newman climbed the steeple to hang the two lanterns which was the signal to Paul Revere. This led to the “shot heard around the world” in Concord and started the American Revolution on that fateful night of April 18, 1775.

We will enjoy an included Welcome Dinner this evening.

Following dinner we’ll return to our hotel for the second night. B & D

Day 4: HyannisAn included “boxed breakfast to go” will be provided by the hotel this morning. We will board our motorcoach and transfer to South Station. At 7:00 a.m. we will depart Boston on the CapeFLYER and travel to Hyannis with stops in Braintree, Brockton, Middleborough/Lakeville, Wareham Village and Buzzards Bay.

We are scheduled to arrive in Hyannis at 10:20 a.m. Upon arrival a local guide will conduct a tour of Hyannis including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Hyannis Port and a view of St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy Family.

There will be free time for an “on-your-own” lunch and shopping on Main Street.

Admission is included to the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum. The seas and shores of Hyannis Port inspired our 35th President like no other place on earth. Discover why he loved this place and how he spent his time on Cape Cod. John Fitzgerald Kennedy said “I always go to Hyannis Port to be revived, to know again the power of the sea and the master

who rules over it and all of us.” It was here that he contemplated and accepted his run for office.

Later this afternoon we will check into the Holiday Inn Hyannis, our home for the next 4 nights.

Dinner is included this evening. B & D

Day 5: ProvincetownFollowing an included breakfast a local guide will meet us for a full day of touring. We will travel along historic Route 6A, the Old King’s Highway. It is a scenic byway winding past hundreds of historic structures which characterize the early development of this unique region.

We’ll view the Eastham Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor’s Center. Sand dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach “Land’s End” – Provincetown. You are now at the extreme tip of Cape Cod. Formerly known as the “Province Lands,” the pilgrims landed here before they decided to settle across the bay in Plymouth. Take time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants, shops and galleries that make this artists/fishermen village so unique.

We’ll board an excursion vessel for an amazing experience of whale watching.

You will enter the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic and fish which use these shallow waters to feed. We’ll be looking for Humpback, Minke and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will provide narration and answer questions about the whales, birds, fish and lighthouses.

For anyone not wishing to go on the whale watch excursion, a dune tour is included. You’ll ride along the shoreline of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Your guide will point out the “dune shacks” where famous artists and writers became inspired to create their art.

Dinner is included this evening in Provincetown. B & D

Day 6: Martha’s Vineyard Breakfast is included at our hotel.

This morning our guide will take us to the Hy-Line Docks where we’ll board the high-speed ferry to the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Upon arrival, we’ll set off on a sightseeing tour and will learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as we pass through Vineyard Haven. tour with a visit to Oak Bluffs, noted for its “gingerbread cottages” and other well-preserved mid-to late-nineteenth-century buildings.

Dinner is included this evening back on the mainland. B & D

Day 7: Cape CodBreakfast is included this morning at our hotel.

Our local guide will meet us at the hotel. We’ll visit the Whydah Pirate Museum. The Whydah was a fully rigged galley ship that was built by the British. During one of its voyages in 1717, it was captured by the famed pirate Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy. Later that year during a fierce storm, the Whydah sank, taking with her the treasure of 50 plundered ships. The ship and treasure was just 500 feet offshore where it stayed for over 250 years. You can touch and see the world’s only authenticated pirate treasure.

Next we’ll board the Cape Cod Central Railroad for a fun-filled 2-hour ride across the Cape. We’ll pass beautiful cranberry bogs, natural woodlands and lush marshes as we make our way from Hyannis to Sandwich.

Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod and the site of one of America’s largest glass factories, an industry that flourished during the 19th century. This quaint and quiet seaside community is the hometown of Thornton Burgess, naturalist and author of 170 children’s books.

There will be free time for shopping along the Cape Cod Canal.

We will board our motorcoach and transfer to our final destination. A boxed lunch will be provided. Founded in 1620 by the Pilgrims, Plymouth is a place of great significance in American history and is often referred to as “America’s Hometown.” Plymouth is where New England was first established and is its oldest municipality. A photo stop will be made at the Forefather’s Monument, the largest solid granite monument in the United States. We’ll stop at famed Plymouth Rock, the traditional site of the Pilgrims arrival in 1620.

Later we’ll board a Lobster Tales Cruise and learn about the many creatures that live in Plymouth Harbor. Experience a “hands on” approach to see how lobsters are harvested. You can roll up your sleeves to help haul in lobster traps.

A lobster dinner is included this evening. Alternate entrées will be available for any “landlubbers” not wishing to eat shellfish. B, L & D

Day 8: En RouteFollowing an included breakfast we’ll transfer to Boston’s South Station. Midwest travelers will depart at 12:50 p.m. on the Lake Shore Limited. You’ll enjoy the same accommodations you enjoyed on the eastbound trip. Eastern travelers will board trains for home destinations. B

Day 9: En Route to ChicagoMidwesterners will arrive into Chicago at 9:50 a.m. on the Lake Shore Limited. They’ll continue to home destinations throughout the morning and afternoon.
