WelcometoCantonMusicSchool!Weofferhighqualityprivatemusiclessonsforkids/teensinCantonandsurroundingareas.OurexcellenceinmusicteachingisproudlyrecognizedbyTheRoyalConservatoryMusicDevelopmentProgram!Pleasekindlyreadthispolicy.Itisdesignedtocreatefairuseofourtimetogetherandcanbereferencedwhenquestionsarise.

ENROLLMENTNewstudentsmaytakeone30-minintroductorylessonbeforecommittingtoweeklylessons.Thepriceforthelessonis$35.Paymentforyourfirstlessonisdueatthatlesson.Checksshouldbewrittenoutto'CantonMusicSchool'.

Ifyou’dliketocontinueandsecureaweeklyslotinourteacher’sschedulehere’swhatwe’llneed:

1. AsignedcopyofCantonMusicSchool’sRegistrationform.Signingtheformindicatestousthatyouarefamiliarwithourpolicies.

2. Acheckwhichincludestuitionforthecurrentmonth,theregistrationfeeof$25(perstudent),costofbooksandarefundable2lessondeposit.Wewillholdthisdeposituntilyouformallystoplessons.Todiscontinuelessonsallstudentsarerequiredtogiveaone-monthnotice.Thedepositwillcoverthefinaltwolessonsofyourlastmonth.Ifthestudentfailstomeetthisrequirement,theyforfeittheirdeposit.Theregistrationfeeandthetuitionfeesarenon-refundable.

LatePaymentFee:$10permonth.BouncedCheckFee:$25percheck. TUITIONLessonsarebasedonamonthlytuition(notperlesson)whichreservesyourchildanexclusiveweeklytimeslotinourteachingschedule.Tuitionischargedaccordingtotheamountofweeksinthemonth.Tuitionisdueandpayableonthefirstscheduledlessonofeachmonth.Regardlessofattendance,paymentwillneedtobecurrentwitheachmonthinordertoholdyourtimeslot.Booksandothermaterialswillbeprovidedbytheschoolforyourconvenienceandarechargedseparately. TEACHER COMMUNICATION Ourteachersmanagetheirstudent’schedulessopleasecontactthemdirectlyforanyquestions

MISSED LESSONSPleasenotifyyourteacherinadvanceofanyabsence.However,itdoesnotexemptthestudentfrompaymentforthemissedlesson.Studentsarechargedforalllessons,includingthosemissedthroughstudentabsence/cancellation.Remember,weholdaspecifictimeslotforyoutotheexclusionofotherpossiblestudents.CantonMusicSchoolisundernoobligationtogivemake-upsasaresultofstudentabsencesbutmaydosoifthereiscancellationfromanotherstudent.

LATE PAYMENTSTuitionpaymentsareconsideredlateifnotreceivedbythesecondlessonofthemonth.Inthiscaseyouwillbechargedalatefeeof$10.00.CantonMusicSchoolreservestherighttostoplessonsifthereisanunpaidaccountbalanceandthemattershallbeturnedovertoathirdpartyforresolution. PARENT OBSERVATIONParentsarewelcometositinandobservelessons,althoughmanykidspreferparentstobeinourwaitingroom.Pleasedonotdropoffyourchildintheparkinglotorleavethemunattendedinthewaitingroom.Wearenotresponsibleforwatchingourstudentsbeyondtheirscheduledlessontime.Pleaserespectthispolicyaswetrytomaketomaketheschoolenvironmentassafeaspossible. TARDY ARRIVALPleasearriveontimeforyourlesson.Studentsarrivinglatewillnothavetheirlessontimeextended. DISCONTINUATION POLICYIntheeventthatthestudenthasdecidedtodiscontinuelessons,werequireaONEMONTHNOTICE.Youwillbeconsideredastudentandbilledaccordingly,unlessawithdrawalnoticeisreceived.Regardlessofwhenappropriatenoticeisgiven,suchstudent/parentshallbefinanciallyresponsibleforthefollowingtwoweeks/lessons,whetherthestudent/parentchoosestoattendorbeabsent.Norefundwillbegiven;thusthestudentmustfinishtheremainderofthemonthorforegoanyunusedlessons.CantonMusicSchoolreservestherighttodismissanystudentatanytimeifanyofthesecircumstancesoccur:

a)Failuretopaytuitionontime

b)Uncooperativeattitude

c)Repeatedmissedlessonswithoutavalidexcuse

RECITALSWeusuallyholdourannualrecitalinMayorJune.Studentshavetheopportunitytoperformatalocalchurchandplayonagrandpiano.Recitalparticipationishighlyrecommendedbutnotrequired.Recitalfeeis$20perstudent. HOLIDAYS, SNOW DAYS & VACATIONSOurenrollmentisopenyearlong.Therewillbemakeupsprovidedforlessonsmissedduetoadeclaredweatheremergency.Yourteacherwillcallyouifthelessonwillbecancelled.CMSdoesn’tnotfollowpublicschoolcalendarbutwewillaccommodatestudentsifthey’reawayduringpublicschools’vacationweeks. SUMMER SCHEDULECantonMusicSchoolisopenforregularlessonsduringthesummer.Wehighlyrecommendtocontinuelessonsinthesummersotherewillbenogapsinyourprogress.Studentscanmissuptotwolessonsinthesummeronly(pleasegiveadvancenotice)whichtheywillnotbechargedfor.ThisisacourtesyforourregularstudentsonlyandWILLNOTbeappliedtoyourlastmonthshouldyoudecidetodiscontinuelessons.
