Albaro Wellness & Spa at the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, Croatia The Istria peninsula was the place to be last summer. Bucolic scenery, delicious cuisine (Istria is world-famous for its excellent truffles, while traditional konoba restaurants serve family-style food, often slow-roasted or cooked over an open fire), quaffable local wines and crystal-clear waters make it a fabulous destination for yacht-lovers. The cobbled town of Rovinj is the jewel in the crown and an £18 million investment in its marina has stimulated a wave of development.

Just steps from the marina are the tiered terraces of the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, a striking new property with contemporary interiors by Piero Lissoni. Its vast underground spa continues the modern feel with marble floors dissected by shallow pools, slatted wooden shutters and local artefacts on glass shelves. Arrive early to enjoy the spa’s “thermal zone”, featuring an outdoor banya, absinthe and citrus steam rooms, experience showers, hot stones and cool plunge pools.

The variety of treatments on offer is equally impressive – from a body scrub using local olive pulp, to a three-hour purifying seaweed ritual, there is something for everyone. The Blue Diamond facial, which uses products by Omorovicza, boosts skin parched by sun and sea air. The 90-minute session on a cosy heated bed includes a firm circulation-boosting Hungarian massage, chilled glass rollers (to help with under-eye circles and wrinkles) as well as an intensive anti-ageing mask. maistra.com

Best by boat: Book one of Rovinj marina’s 416 berths for yachts up to 50 metres, and the hotel will be on your doorstep

The Spa at Six Senses Krabey Island, Cambodia With tropical islets, pristine beaches and emerald waters you would expect Cambodia’s coastline to be teeming with luxury hotels, but the tourism industry has been slow to move in – which is what makes Six Senses’ first foray into the country so exciting. And this private, rainforest-covered island with 40 glass-walled villas, all with private infinity pools, has been worth the wait.

Unsurprisingly for a brand that has been at the forefront of the wellness revolution, no expense has been spared on the spa. Inspired by the modernist architecture that Cambodia is famous for, cool stone corridors offer meditation areas, steam rooms galore and even an alchemy bar, where you can create your own potions (or just a herb-infused sea-salt bath scrub to take home).

A wellness screening is on offer (using finger oximeters and non-invasive electrodes) but if you are more into Pinot than personal training while on holiday, the full hit list of Six Senses treatments is on the menu. Go local with the 60-minute Khmer Salt and Herb Scrub: dead skin will be buffed away before a blend of Kampot sea salt and local Khmer herbs is applied. Nourishing coconut oil will then be massaged gently into your skin. sixsenses.com

Best by boat: You might have to unravel a lot of red tape to visit by yacht but there is a plethora of islands near Sihanoukville to anchor off. Krabey Island has its own private jetty to tender in to

Evexia Spa at Andronis Arcadia, Santorini Santorini is famous for its swoon-inducing sunsets – but there is nothing romantic about the coachloads of wannabe Instagram influencers crowding the cliffs to get the best shot.

Thankfully, loved-up couples can now take refuge at the brand new, ultra-secluded Andronis Arcadia. Cascading down the hillside on the edge of Oia village, its 53 sugar-cube suites all come with chic, pared back interiors (neutral tones, locally sourced woods and artefacts) and private plunge pools – so there is no need to see anyone but your beloved.

The hotel’s other enticement is the cavernous Evexia Spa, now the largest on the island. If you are looking for a full MOT, Evexia offers Dr Zulia Frost’s non-invasive hair profiling test: in just 20 minutes, with a single strand of hair, it provides a full wellness screening that can be used to build a programme for your stay. If you are just after a spot of pampering, opt for the Andronis Signature Experience, which uses local grapes (for their antioxidant properties) and honey (which boosts the complexion) in a two-hour treatment combining a body scrub and massage. Afterwards, recline with a herbal tea in the open-air relaxation area –

filled with local flowers and linen drapes – and watch the odd moped struggle up the steep incline into Oia.andronisarcadia.com

The Spa at The Chedi, Montenegro Montenegro’s mountainous coastline is the epicentre of a yachting revolution and the 690-hectare Luštica Bay is at the forefront of it, with 1,500 residences, two marinas, the country’s first 18-hole golf course and seven hotels planned over the next two decades. The development’s first hotel, The Chedi, has embraced traditional rustic Montenegrin architecture and its limestone and cobblestone walls sit next to a private

pebbled beach with a whitewashed beach club. The sea-facing spa is calmness itself, with flowing

muslin curtains separating its softly lit corridors and treatment rooms. It centres around a glass-ended indoor pool (ideal for Instagram snaps) surrounded by plush daybeds, an experience shower, steam room and sauna. For more intense relaxation, the 45-minute Voya

Luscious Salt Glow scrub uses seaweed oil infused with Dead Sea salt to hydrate the skin and help stimulate lymph flow. chedilusticabay.com

SALT Equilibrium at SALT of Palmar, Mauritius This colourful new boutique hotel on the eastern coast of Mauritius caters for eco-conscious travellers who have had enough of the luxury castaway

aesthetic of most island resorts. The vibrant interior palette in cerulean, sunshine yellow and teal is complemented by contemporary, locally sourced rattan furniture and ceramics.

The clue is in the name of the petite SALT Equilibrium Spa: all treatments are salt-based. Upon arrival you choose from a tray of potions – there’s Epsom salt to soothe, pink Himalayan to relax or black volcanic to detox. These can then be mixed

with different essential oils, depending on how you are feeling (jet-lagged? stressed?).

After a 15-minute foot bath, leg scrub and massage, you head upstairs to one of the tiny treatment rooms for a long-stroked, firm but soothing back and neck massage. Finish your experience in the spa’s signature salt room, where coloured lights glow through marbled Himalayan salt walls. A 15-minute doze on a lounge chair in here is said to fight stress, kill bacteria and clear the airways. saltresorts.com

Best by boat: The eastern side of the island can get quite windy,

so drop anchor around Port Louis on the west coast and take

a one-hour scenic drive through the sugar-cane fields

Cinq Mondes Spa at the Emerald Palace Kempinski, DubaiThe City of Gold does nothing by half measures and the latest addition to its treasure chest of hotels pushes the boundaries of extravagance even further. On the west crescent of the spectacular Palm Jumeirah archipelago, the Emerald Palace took its design inspiration from the Palace of Versailles. Guests enter a grand foyer, hand-painted in 24kt gold leaf, and centred with a bedazzling chandelier made from 40,000 Swarovski crystals. Even the rooms are lavished in either platinum or gold – with a choice of sea or city views – and serviced by a butler 24/7.

In comparison, the Cinque Mondes Spa at the heart of the hotel is an understated Eden, with stone corridors illuminated by glowing gold filigree lanterns. Check into a private spa suite and wallow in a deep-soak wooden bathtub topped with fresh rose petals. If you’ve just stepped off the plane, an invigorating North African hammam is the perfect pick-me-up. You’ll be scrubbed from head to toe with Beldi black soap and an exfoliating Kassa glove before being slathered in a detoxifying clay Rhassoul wrap, leaving you with satin smooth skin. kempinski.com

Best by boat: Dubai Marina offers berths of up to 60 metres, or you can anchor off the Palm, check in to a sea view suite and watch the sun as it sets behind your yacht

The Elounda Spa at Blue Palace Resort and Spa, Crete No one nails family fun as naturally as the Greeks. The Blue Palace in Crete may be elegant – shaded arches, tranquil pools and chic suites flowing down an ochre hillside to a crescent of pebble beach – but it’s also packed with tot-friendly activities. Pint-sized history buffs? Tender to the deserted town on Spinalonga island, just offshore, for a day of make-believe in a former leper colony. Sullen youths? Let them loose on teen-tailored watersports, from diving to waterskiing and flyboarding. Afterwards, an al fresco sunset supper at the Blue Door is the stuff of glowing childhood memories: try the Cretan Feast, with slow-roasted antikristo lamb and a pick-and-mix of Greek meze, while the Cretan lyra thrums in the background.

The palatial Elounda Spa is equally accommodating with its Young Travellers treatments menu including a Princess Glow facial, a Mini Mani and a lavender body wrap. New treatments for grown-ups include body rituals by Swiss brand Valmont and facials by Parisian brand Anne Semonin – give the Blue Palace Sunset post-sun treatment a whirl, created just for the resort. The classic Aromatherapy Massage, powered by essential oils, involves expert pressure and a spectacular ocean panorama through huge windows to help rouse you from your post-treatment reverie. marriott.co.uk

Thalassa Spa at Anassa, CyprusWith their promise of eternal youth to all who visit, the Baths of Aphrodite are just a couple of kilometres down the road – but for more tangible results, Anassa’s Thalassa Spa is the safer bet. If you’ve come for a restful experience with kids in tow, have no fear. The family-run resort offers a range of supervised activities for children, from mosaic designing and baking to beach visits and tennis classes.

There’s an exhaustive range of holistic treatments, rituals and Thalasso therapies to choose from: we recommend the Cyprus Body Twist Ritual: a 75-minute extravagance of massage using warmed olive and lemon oils, exfoliation with carob syrup and raw sugar followed by an affusion shower pumped directly from sea to spa. And if the children have behaved themselves, book them in for a 45-minute Junior Massage followed by a Twinkle Toes pedicure, while you wallow in the spa’s majestic Roman-style pool and contemplate which of the hotel’s four restaurants to visit that evening. Not even Aphrodite had it this good. anassa.com

Best by boat: Dock at nearby Marina of Agios Nikolaos (it takes boats up to 70 metres) and tender in to the Blue Palace’s jetties

BEST FOR BRINGING THE BROOD

Best by boat: Latchi Harbour and Marina, with 350 berths for boats of up to 20 metres, is just three kilometres away (a superyacht-friendly marina is in development just outside Paphos)

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Canouan Even the saltiest Caribbean sea dog might struggle to locate Canouan on a map, but with its superyacht marina now open and Mandarin Oriental’s first foray into this region gaining a stellar rep, this Grenadine gem won’t stay a secret for long. Resplendent in cool marble, it might not scream child-friendly, but the beaming staff and extensive kids’ club tell a different story.

While your offspring are entertained with beach Olympics, cricket and yoga, you can escape to the spa. Reached via a pretty funicular, its seven treatment villas open on to private balconies overlooking the lapping waves below. Make the most of the island’s natural ingredients with the two-hour Emerald Enchantment ritual, which includes a coconut and ginger-infused body scrub and a massage using coconut oil infused with lemongrass, ginger and frangipani. You’ll leave as relaxed as the thousands of basking tortoises that call the island home. mandarinoriental.com

Acquaforte Thalasso and Spa at Forte Village, Sardinia The spa at this sprawling Sardinian complex is inspired by the thermal

baths of Ancient Rome and the bevy of child-friendly activities on offer means you can unwind like an emperor. Drop off future stars at the pro-led Sports Academy to learn skills from Chelsea FC legends, have a bash at fencing or perfect their synchronised swimming – and head for the spa.

Beneath sweet-smelling pine trees, Acquaforte is famed for its thalasso thermal baths, designed to

detox the body and soften the skin, and its Ayurvedic expertise, flying in specialists from India to work on weary muscles. Ideal for worn-out parents, the Abhyanga massage uses warm oil and firm, flowing strokes to help tone muscles, lubricate joints and speed up the release of toxins from the body. Then you can send the kids to dine on Popeye’s spinach burgers under supervision at Mario’s Restaurant, leaving you free for dinner à deux. abercrombiekent.co.uk; fortevillageresort.com

Best by boat: The new Sandy Lane YC marina, a 10-minute drive away, has berths up to 100 metres. It is adjacent to Canouan Airport

Best by boat: Tender right up to the floating dock at

Forte Village’s private beach, following a tree-lined

path to the spa. Or, if you are not visiting by yacht, Abercrombie & Kent can organise your entire stay

The Spa at Four Seasons Istanbul at the Bosphorus, Turkey This lovingly restored 19th-century Ottoman palace on the shores of the Bosphorus is a welcome reprieve from the frenetic energy of the city in which two continents collide. Guests sip Turkish tea on the broad terrace or swim gentle lengths in the riverside pool, surrounded by candy-striped cabanas.

To sample some of the city’s Ottoman culture without adding to the toll on your weary feet, head to the subterranean spa for a traditional hammam. After a sauna session, lie on a marble slab, soothed by the sound of running water and local folk music. Warm water is thrown over your body and a vigorous scrub buffs every inch of your skin. This is followed by a cloud of soap bubbles – your therapist will perform a deep-tissue massage beneath the mountain of aromatic foam. Finally, a cooling coconut cream mask is applied from top to toe, your hair is conditioned and you are cleansed with a torrent of warm water.

Once fully buffed and puffed, head upstairs for sustenance at the hotel’s new waterfront eatery, Anason 34. Indulge in Turkish tavern dishes such as paçanga börek – bites of cured beef and kashar cheese wrapped in flaky pastry – to leave you ready to hit the tourist trail again. fourseasons.com

The Biltmore Spa at the Biltmore Hotel, Miami, US Oozing Gatsbyesque charm, this architectural beauty dating from 1926 may be only a few kilometres from the body-thumping beats of South Beach but it is firmly rooted in a different era. With finches chirping in the lobby, a high tea served daily to the sound of a harpist and a gigantic pool (with more than two million litres of clear blue water) it’s easy to fall under the spell of the Biltmore’s recently renovated splendour.

Sitting on the seventh floor is the bright, airy spa. All treatments begin with a Buddhist-inspired ritual, and if you want to get reacquainted with your inner mermaid, opt for the 90-minute Voyage of the Sea treatment. It starts with a scrub of Voya seaweed powder mixed with scented oil, followed by a long soak in a tub filled with Atlantic seaweed. The final step is a hydrating massage with a seaweed-based lotion. biltmorehotel.com

Best by boat: Ataköy Marina, 40 minutes’ drive away, has 100-metre berths, or you can tender to the hotel’s private jetty

Spa Metropole by Givenchy, Hôtel Metropole Monte-Carlo, MonacoJust a few steps from Monte-Carlo’s grand casino, the tree-lined avenue that sweeps towards this majestic belle-époque hotel banishes thoughts of tourist throngs. If you judge hotels by the ambience of their lobbies, this old-school gem – with its coffered ceiling, sink-in sofas and floral displays – will have you at hello.

By contrast, the hotel’s Spa Metropole by Givenchy, created in 2017, is up-to-the minute in white stone and frosted glass. Treatments begin with a fragrance journey where, based on your choices from a series of abstract pictures, a therapist will suggest samples that reflect your personality. The treatment rooms will then be adorned with your bespoke scent.

You can also revive tired soles after pounding the principality with a pedicure at the spa’s Bastien Gonzalez Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio, the favoured brand of Gwyneth Paltrow. Once your feet are hot to trot, move on to the spa’s signature facial using the entire Le Soin Noir line, with extract of black algae. It will whet your appetite for dinner in the magical Joël Robuchon restaurant, where chef Christophe Cussac shows why he’s won two Michelin stars at his open kitchen. metropole.com

Best by boat: There is no size limit for superyachts in nearby Port Hercules but you need to book early to avoid disappointment

The Spa Village at Marigot Bay Resort, St Lucia Guests at this recently renovated Caribbean pied-à-terre feast on authentic local fare – from breadfruit tacos with freshly caught mahi mahi, to seasonal mangoes, avocado and soursop, picked from trees nearby. If you ask nicely, the chef will even serve you his family’s legendary fried chicken as part of a bespoke treehouse dining experience, and you’ll soon become hooked on the area’s spiced rum – in creamy coconut cocktails at the pool bar, or straight over ice at the atmospheric Rum Cave.

The vibe is low-key elegance and the resort’s spa, set within botanical gardens, hits the brief perfectly. Try the New Moon experience, which includes a brown sugar and seaweed body scrub, made by therapists on site, which smells like warm molasses and leaves skin sublimely soft. Its aroma is so heavenly that you may be tempted not to wash it off, but the spa’s impressive multi-directional outdoor shower should convince you to return to reality. Leaving the resort, however, is a much harder sell. marigotbayresort.com

Spa Saint-Martin by La Prairie, Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa, France Hidden in the craggy hills of Provence, within striking distance of a wealth of yachting hotspots, this former Knights Templar castle offers nourishment, inside and out. Surrounded by olive

groves, its ivy-clad walls are home to a Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Saint-Martin, which is run by French chef Jean-Luc Lefrançois, who is known to pick wild herbs on his morning run.

Like the simple but perfectly executed cuisine, the chateau’s spa is a modest affair, with straightforward treatments using Bamford and La Prairie products. It’s the expertise of the practitioners that makes all the

difference – a full body massage by therapist Natacha loosens knots and soothes tired muscles without being overly vigorous. There’s also the option of the exclusive Haute Couture Rose Tango Treatment, featuring the fragrant tango rose, which grows in the chateau’s beautiful grounds. oetkercollection.com

Best by boat: Yacht owners are spoilt for

in under an hour – or 10 minutes by helicopter

The Spa at Danai Beach Resort, Greece Publicity-shunning hotshots take refuge in the personal cabanas at this perfectly groomed Greek resort. And for those who have an ego to match their celeb status, its whitewashed, vanilla-scented spa offers just the ticket – the Cleopatra Experience. It begins with a relaxing sauna, followed by a 25-minute exfoliating scrub made from Greek sea salt, olive oil and honey. Guests can then slip into a gold-plated bathtub filled with warmed goat’s milk, melted wildflower honey and fragrant rose petals to nourish the entire body.

The spoiling doesn’t end there. The cliff-side Squirrel restaurant serves up creative tasting menus, including roasted foie gras and monkfish with parsley coulis, and offers more than 1,700 bottles from the resort’s award-winning wine cellar. After dinner, decadent bites of honey-soaked baklava await guests back in their suites. danairesort.com

Best by boat: Porto Carras is 30 minutes’ drive from Danai and accommodates yachts up to 55 metres. Alternatively, drop anchor in front of the resort and tender in to shore

The Amanzoe Spa at Amanzoe, Kranidi, GreecePerched atop a hill overlooking the blue-green waters of the Argolic Gulf, the grand architecture of this Porto Heli hideaway was built to resemble the Parthenon in Athens. Celebrities and CEOs come here to slip under the radar, hiding out in its spacious villas and dipping into the spa for some R&R or partaking in a bespoke Individual Wellness Programme. These three-day immersions – focusing on weight management or detoxing – are designed to

go the distance, giving guests a full health assessment, movement programme, specialist meals and Aman Spa treatments.

The region is famed for its curative potential: the ancient Greek healing sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus is an hour’s drive away, and the spa is inspired by the traditional holistic healings of Hippocrates. Entering its cool interior feels like

stepping into Ancient Greece: therapists clad in flowing togas lead you down the column-lined marble pathways that link its nine treatment rooms. If you don’t have time for a full MOT you can enjoy fast-track healing with the An’a-trip’sis treatment, which combines acupressure, dry skin brushing and massage – including a euphoric head rub – to improve circulation and relax body and mind. aman.com

Thankfully the hotel’s oriental-inspired spa – complete with a 25-metre saltwater pool – is an airy oasis in which to rejuvenate after Michelin-starred gorging.

Arrive early to bask in the thermal suite before cooling off in the hotel’s -12°C snow cave, the first of its kind in Spain. Then head down the candlelit corridors to one of its 10 treatment rooms and continue the foodie theme with a Biologique Recherche Caviar Facial. The treatment uses the nutrients from the salt-cured roe to stimulate cellular regeneration.

Varua Te Ora Polynesian Spa at The Brando, French Polynesia It’s hard to imagine feeling stressed on this paradisiacal Polynesian islet where Tahitian royalty have holidayed for centuries. Its lagoon, which seems to sparkle in 50 shades of blue, has been nicknamed the billionaire’s swimming pool. But if your back is sore from excess lounging by your private infinity pool, head to the resort’s exquisitely designed spa, set on the lagoon’s edge.

Created by Pierre Jean Picart and Gilles Leborgne, the treatment rooms resemble cocoons, covered in tree branches. Couples should head for the elevated Fare Manu suite, which mimics a bird’s nest and has two private balconies. To make the most of this setting, book in for the three-hour Fare Manu experience, which starts with

the Queen’s bath, where traditional music is played while you soak in plants and herbs. Unwind further with a Taurumi massage using monoi oil, made from soaking the petals of Tahitian gardenias in coconut oil. thebrando.com

Aura Spa at Bawah Reserve, Anambas, Indonesia For a well-earned reboot, what could be better than a private island? How about an entire forested archipelago hidden within Indonesia’s Anambas Islands? Days at Bawah Reserve – an eco-focused retreat made up of six islands – slip by in luxe-Robinson Crusoe style, punctuated with personally curated experiences such as sunrise kayaking, beach picnics and snorkelling adventures to the surrounding coral reefs.

A daily spa session is an established part of island life, with most treatments taking place in the open-air spa on the main island, which honours the resort’s eco-chic aesthetic with hand-crafted woods and a pitched thatched roof. Sporty types, who can also engage Bawah’s fitness and wellness guru Lisa Jones, should sign up for the Fit Body massage or scrub. The latter uses an aromatic lulur paste, blended from finely ground rice powder, turmeric, sandalwood and jasmine oil, and ylang ylang body cream to reduce inflammation and soften your skin. Once pummelled and smoothed, you will be ready to take your #jettygram on Bawah’s iconic banana split walkway.bawahreserve.com

Best by boat: Moor outside the surrounding reef and tender in, or it’s a 20-minute hop from Faa’a International Airport to the resort’s private runway

Serenity Spa at the Crane Resort, Barbados Sitting on low cliffs on the island’s tranquil south-east corner, the Crane’s turreted buildings, six restaurants and neo-colonial village – complete with a deli, art gallery and boutiques – ooze self-contained charm. So much so that a sprinkling of celebrities – including Bajan local Rihanna – regularly stop by to escape the crowds and paparazzi.

To keep up with its distinguished clientele’s demands, the Serenity Spa – which lies at the heart of the hotel’s historic, cobbled quarters that date back to 1887 – has recently been refurbished. To tune into the laid-back Caribbean vibe head to one of its candlelit, lavender-scented treatment rooms for a Calypso Cool massage. Using warmed almond oil, your therapist will perform a Swedish massage inspired by the rhythms of calypso music, using their elbows and forearms to ease out knots, stretching limbs in the process. If you’re worried about the intensity of these techniques, ask for Danee to be your masseuse – she is gentler than most while still managing to banish tension. thecrane.com

Hareer Spa by L’Occitane at Shangri-La Al Husn, OmanSitting on the sun-drenched coastline near Muscat, this modern take on a Middle Eastern palace is where adventurous yacht owners and well-heeled expats from across the Gulf come to wind down. The infinity pool, fringed with date palms, is a showstopper and the private beach doubles as a tranquil sanctuary for turtles.

For serious pampering, head straight to the Hareer Spa by L’Occitane and try the signature Omani Honey Heaven treatment. The scrub, made with Omani sea salt, sugar granules and French flower pollen, is organic – it’s good enough to eat. A gentle 30-minute top-to-toe exfoliation is followed by an hour’s relaxing massage blending various techniques – light Swedish strokes, Chinese acupressure and Balinese stretching. You’ll come out with baby-soft skin – and smelling like a delicious dessert. shangri-la.com

Terre Blanche Spa at Terre Blanche, Tourrettes, France Tucked away in the pine-covered hills above the Côte d’Azur, this much-loved hideaway is not a place to be “seen” – and that’s what makes it the perfect spot to recover after a little over-indulgence. If you fancy working out your alcoholic excesses on the golf course, you’ve come to the right place. Two world-class championship courses, with peerless views over the rolling Provençal landscape, encircle the hotel, while Europe’s only “Biomecaswing Centre” will diagnose and treat any problems with your swing, under the watchful eye of Jean-Jacques Rivet.

After the full 18 holes you can seek solitude in the French design-inspired spa, which sits in its own bastide a short stroll from the main building. It is centred around a column-lined indoor pool that has a cathedral-worthy vaulted ceiling and skylights that allow light to flood in. Continue the golf theme with the 90-minute signature massage, where a therapist will roll a stick with golf balls attached to it over your body to ease muscle knots. Once you are feeling back on par, venture back out on to the course or saunter to sea level and rejoin the party. terre-blanche.com Spa Caresse at Caresse Resort

and Spa, Bodrum, TurkeySurely there can be no more appropriate place to enjoy the rejuvenating benefits of a hammam than in Turkey, its country of origin. Fortunately, this geometrically designed hotel set above a private cove has not one but two hammams dedicated to this traditional water ritual. Ask for Balinese therapist Renny, who will collect you from a preparatory steam and escort you through subtle wafts of amber for your Sultan’s rose hammam. Relax on a heated circular stone, cut from the same impervious white Marmara marble that Turks

have been using since Ottoman times. Renny will don a kese, the traditional mitt, to exfoliate your face and body. After you’ve been bathed in water infused with hydrating and anti-ageing rose, you’ll be washed in towering clouds of rose-soap bubbles. A massage and hair shampoo and condition follows, before a cold compress and full-body rose mask to close the pores, leaving

you squeaky clean, with the softest skin. Afterwards, retreat to the shaded terrace by the copper-

coloured spa pool and sip a herbal tea, enjoying views across the water to Karaada (Black) island. After such a thorough cleanse you will feel sparkling enough to head back out to the bright lights of Bodrum just a short drive away. redsavannah.com; theluxurycollection.com

Pure Seven Spa at 7 Pines Resort, IbizaIf you’ve taken the “eat, sleep, rave, repeat” mantra a little too literally, this 186-suite luxury resort on Ibiza’s west coast offers some much-needed privacy and pampering on a pine-scented clifftop. The spa is set around a cavernous circular room facing the mystical island of Es Vedrà and uses Ayurvedic, oriental and Mayan influences with local salt and herbs in a plastic-free environment.

Think you really could forget that trip to Amnesia the night before? Book in for 20 minutes at the Oxygen Bar before a 90-minute signature massage. Using sweet orange, palmarosa and lavender essential oils, the Balinese-style treatment combines hot stones with stretching movements and a scalp massage. And if you’re really committed to undoing the spa’s excellent work afterwards, try a cocktail at the hotel’s Pershing Yacht Terrace – the result of a partnership between 7Pines and the boatbuilder. 7pines-ibiza.com B

Six Senses Spa at the Belvedere Hotel, Mykonos Sunglass-shaded high rollers have recovered by this hotel’s turquoise pool – surrounded by plush double-mattress sunbeds, white parasols and fuchsia bougainvillea – for more than two decades. It lies just a short stiletto-clad stroll from the maze of cobbled streets and 16th-century windmills of Mykonos town. Loyal guests meet annually by the bar, where veteran DJ Hans Havenaar spins his tunes, to gorge on Chef Nobu’s cuisine at the poolside Matsuhisa Mykonos restaurant. And, to complete the package, Six Senses chose this site to open its first spa on the island back in 2015.

Like the rest of the hotel, it is small but perfectly formed with white walls, handmade local furniture and pops of Aegean blue. The three treatment rooms are bright without

feeling clinical and the couple’s suite has a striking exposed stone wall sculpted from the cliff. Pulled a muscle with some moves on the dance floor? A blissful Marma Massage is the way to go. Using firm flowing movements and marma therapy (a 5,000-year-old Ayurvedic system based on pressure points) it eliminates tightness and stress-related tension.
