Mr. Glenn Hymel’s Introduction as He Starts His Formation Internship
I am grateful to Father Matthew, Father .John and Deacon Ricky for supervising and guiding my Diaconate Internship Training for the Diocese of Baton Rouge in the West St. James Cluster Parishes. As a candidate for the diaconate ministry, this is an opportunity to develop practical skills in service to the people of God in our cluster parishes. In this nal year of academic development, I intend to improve my human, spiritual, and pastoral capacity to complete formation by summer of 2021.
I am the oldest son of Gerard and Clothilde Hymel of our Lady of Peace Parish. I was baptized at St. Philip in November 1956 and belonged to Our Lady of Peace Parish while growing up. I graduated from St. James High School in 1974 and from LSU in Electrical Engineering in 1978. I retired from OxyChem in 2014, but have been called to work with resolving global warming and carbon neutrality progress, so I work part time implementing technology to restore the environment. I am married once and forever to Carol Ann Rodrigue Hymel. We are members of St. Philip Parish. Carol Ann and I have 6 grown children who have blessed us with 21 grandchildren, so far.
Internship in the West St. James Cluster Parishes does not mean I will be assigned here upon completion of formation. I cherish the opportunity to serve, grow, and mature among friends and family so I appreciate being assigned here. I look forward to developing relationships with many parishioners over the next year. Thank you for your prayers and support.
