4th Grade News By Tehila Friedman, Dena Shacter, and Avigayil Silverman
Last week Mrs. Dubovick’s Kittah Daled went to Dena
Feiler’s house for a fun Makkos Siyum. There were two
fun games called Balloon Pop and
Four Box. There were two Divrei
Torah and everyone had fun
decorating the house. Thank you to
the Feilers for making a delicious
fleishig dinner (see attached
pictures). We’re very busy with
our Haggadah learning. We’re
also learning Ma Nishtana in
Yiddish. We love listening to
Pesach music, coloring in our
Haggados, and listening to
Pesach stories. Thank you to
Rabbi Gottesman for fixing
the computer so we can play
Pesach music. Thank you to
Mrs. Gross, the Girls’ Student
Council, and the people who
stayed after school to set
up the Chinese auction,
and especially to Mrs.
Prero for making the
French fries all morning!
There were so many fun
prizes, and food (see
attached pictures). We
just started a Pesach
Food Drive and whichever
class
brings the most
cans gets a pizza
party. Last year Mrs.
Dubovick’s class
won. Have a Good
Shabbos and Good
Chodesh!

5th Grade News By Hershy Perkel and Naftali Warso
Wax Museum
Every year, the 5th graders look
forward to having an explorer wax
museum. This year… Mrs.
Kleinman’s and Mrs. Sherman’s 5th
grade boys researched specific
explorers that they picked out of a
hat and wrote Informational Essays
about them. After everyone
finished, we each made a poster
that included the explorer’s name,
picture, travel route and timeline.
That's not all, we also had to dress
up as our chosen explorer and
stand in the Multipurpose room
not moving (like a wax statue). A
parent or someone in our class
would press our “button“ and we
would talk about our explorer in
first person. Some people had
very creative costume ideas. One
person stuffed a pillow under his
shirt to show that his explorer was
a large person. Some people even
pretended that they couldn't
remember things about their
explorer because they are old.
There was a sheet by each explorer
where parents could leave
feedback and comments about the
presentation. Thank you to the
parents and teachers for coming.
Everyone had a good time pressing
our buttons and enjoying the
costumes and posters.

2018 Book Fair Committee
THANK YOU
Thank you so much for the amazingly generous gift to
the 1st-3rd grade classrooms of sets of books for use
during reading workshop. This is only our 2nd year
teaching reading through reading workshop which
gives our students the opportunity to read so many
more books over the span of the year than our older
curriculum. They also get to select what they are
reading at their own reading level. We have seen
amazing growth in our students through this
curriculum. We also love that it fosters a love of
reading! With this curriculum, having a large selection
of interesting books at a variety of reading levels is
really important in our 1st-3rd grade classrooms. The
PTA’s contribution and commitment to helping us
achieve this goal is incredible!!
-- Mrs. Abrams, Reading Curriculum Coordinator
