European Demand for wood pellets is growing at 20% annually……
By 2020, EU countries are expected to u;lize up to 40 million tons per year of wood pellets
Es;mates indicate 80 m tons of wood pellets by 2020.

Co-‐firing plans include
“…wood-‐based materials such as forestry residues, agricultural by-‐products like straw, sunflower husk pellets and olive cake, as well as purposely grown energy crops such as short rotaKon coppice willow and miscanthus.”

Bio Natural Gas:
“…is produced during the decomposiKon process of organic maMer….most important substrates for creaKng biogas are regeneraKve raw materials such as corn, grain and catch crops. The crop rotaKon method used by E.On disKnguishes itself in several ways. Food and energy agriculture are aligned…amount of acreage necessary is reduced to 30 percent.”

By 2020, the European Union plans to raise the share of renewable energy used in the transport sector to 10%.
Verbio CEO says: “Biofuels must be the main driver of the energy revoluKon on the roads. And biofuels need to be produced sustainably and must not compete with food producKon,. Therefore, he explained that biogas made from straw harbors has vast potenKal for efficient mobility, as it does not displace farmland. According to a study by the DBFZ German Biomass Research Centre, the quanKty of straw that goes unused in Germany amounts to 8–13 million tones every year and the amount of energy this could produce could power 4 million cars over the same period.”
