Developmental Model of the League How many levels are there in the Canadian hockey league?

The Canadian Development Model was designed to create a system that meets the individual needs of athletes. The Canadian Development Model states that the objective is to improve and advance player’s skills while at the same time only doing so when the player’s maturation and development level is ready.

Another way the Canadian Development Model for ice hockey keeps its athletes in Canada and even attracts athletes from other countries is by connecting education to hockey development. Canada produces many professional level hockey players but also allows these players to receive education throughout their development to the professional level.
