What is the CCV system?• A web-based application that provides researchers with a single,

common approach to gathering CV information required by a network of federal, provincial and not-for-profit research funding organizations.

• Allows the input of CV information by researchers and the extraction of the CV data (with consent from the researcher) by member agencies to support their funding application process. The vision and objectives for the CCV are to: Lighten the load on the research community when applying for

funding, or for reporting purposes, on the principle that the CV data entered once by the researcher can be readily utilized in a manner that suits the requirements of any subscribing agency;

Facilitate the collection of a common data set required by agencies Create a public repository which showcases Canadian researcher

expertise

Launched in 2002, the CCV currently has more than 100,000 registered users.

Generic CV

The Generic CV is your full CV containing all the sections and fields that are supported by CCV. There is a single copy of your CV data which is represented by the Generic CV

Generic CV is where all information for the funding templates is drawn from

You should enter all updates and information here and complete absolutely all of the sections and fields that you can

I would encourage you to update the generic CV at minimum quarterly

Funding Templates

22 funding agencies currently using the CV system (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, CFI, CDA, HSF, etc)

Each agency may have multiple ‘funding templates’ they use• Each funding template has different mandatory fields of

information that are required• If the generic CV is complete and up to date it will result in

less work each time you need to prepare a specific CV for a competition

General Tips:• For all screens, click “Add” if you want to add a new record• Click “Done” to save your changes• Click the pencil icon to edit• Organization fields auto-complete• To maintain data in Common CCV (generic CV), but not

include a particular funding template, uncheck the “submit” box (never delete)

• Question mark bubbles provide help on a particular field• Be consistent and accurate• While some sections have been designated as optional,

you are encouraged to indicate all possible information
