materialcoveringsocialjustice,environmentalandheritagetopics.HewasaweeklycontributortoArthurBlack’s“BasicBlack”CBCradioprogram,andhashadmorethan100artistscoverhissongs.Hissong“FrobisherBay”hasbecomeaCanadianclassicandissungbychoirseverywhere.Hisnewalbum“SunnyJim”onBorealisRecordsreached#2inCanadaintherootsgenreforairplay.Oftenreferredtoasa“poeti-cian”,JamesisalsoacitycouncillorinhishometownofGuelphOntario.www.jamesgordon.ca
TheGuelph Chamber ChoiroffersavarietyofchoralconcertswhichcontributetoGuelph’scul-turalvitality.Thechoirprovidesafulfillingmusicalexperiencefortalentedamateurchoirmembers,andpromotesCanadianandnewmusic,andhistoricallyinformedpracticesinearlymusic.
Inadditiontotheannualfour-concertseries,theGCCalsoperformsinseniors’residences,andpres-entsaSing-alongMessiahfundraiserforalocalcharity.TheGCCregularlycollaborateswithothermusicandartsorganizationsinGuelph,andsupportstheGuelphKiwanisMusicFestivalwithscholarshipsforfourchoirs.TheGCChasperformedinnumerousinternationalandlocalfestivals,performedinBritain,EuropeandScandinavia,beenbroadcastonCBCRadio,andhaswonprizesintheCBCNationalCompetitionforAma-teurChoirs.Thechoirhasproducedeightrecordings,
including Carols of the Bells(December2017).Gerald Neufeldhasenjoyeda40-yearcareerasa
choralconductor,havingperformedover300concertsrangingfromtheearlyRenaissancetocommissionedworksfortheGuelphChamberChoir.For18years,hehasbeenaproponentofhistoricalperformances,conductingmajorchoralworksaccompaniedbyperiodorchestras.HisresearchinhistoricalperformancepracticeshasinformedavibrantpresentationofmajorworksbyMonteverdi,Bach,Handel,Mozart,Mendels-sohn,Brahmsandmanyothers.
Dr.NeufeldhasdirectedtheGCCsinceitsfound-ingin1980,aswellasconductingchoirsattheUniver-sityofGuelphandWesternUniversity,wherehetaughtconductingfor31years.TheGCC,theUofGChoir,ThamesScholarsandtheFacultyofMusicSingershaveallbeenwinnersintheCBCNationalChoralCom-petitionunderhisdirection.HehasconductedchoirsinfestivalsinEdinburgh,Wales,Austria,theCzechRepublic,plusTorontoandtheGuelphSpringFestival.HisconcerttoursincludeEurope,OntarioandQuebec.EightCDshavebeenrecordedunderhisdirection.
GeraldNeufeldwasconductoroftheOntarioYouthChoir,winneroftheLeslieBellcompetitionforchoralconductors,andhasservedonjuriesfortheJunoAwards,theLeslieBellCompetitionandtheGuelphSpringFestivalnationalvocalcompetition.Hehasalsobeenactiveasachoralclinician,festivaladju-dicator,andspeakerontopicsinthechoralfield.

Alison MacNeillisagraduateoftheUniversityofGuelphmusicprogram,andoftheRoyalConservatoryofToronto.BorninGuelph,shereturnedtotheareatoliveandworkfollowinggraduateworkattheUniversityofWesternOntario,whereshestudiedpianoandtheorywithRonaldTuriniandRichardParks.
Alisonisactiveasanaccompanistandchambermusician,andhasbeen,atvarioustimesthroughtheyears,pianistfortheUniversityofGuelphChoir,theEloraFestivalSingers,theGuelphYouthSingers,andtheRainbowChorusofWaterloo-Wellington,aswellaswithmanyotherensemblesandsoloists.ShemaintainsalargeteachingstudioandistheDirectorofMusicMinistryatHarcourtMemorialUnitedChurch.ShehasbeentheaccompanistfortheChamberChoirformuchofitsexistence,performingandtouringwiththeensemble.
Aftermorethan20yearsofdedicatedservicetotheGuelphChamberChoir,Patricia Eton-NeufeldretiredfromherpositionasGCCAdministrator.Pat’stimeandefforthascontributedenormouslytotheChoir’ssuccessoverthatlengthyperiod.Pathasbeenhonouredbyhercommunity(i.e.,asaYWCA“WomanofDis-tinction”)forhereffortstomakeGuelphabetterplacetoliveonmanyfronts.TheGCCwishesherallthebestforher“retirement”.
