• Specified loads based on frequent environmental processes shall have an annual probability of exceedance, PE, not greater than 10-2

• Note: For practical reasons, a probability of exceedance, PE, of 10-2 per annum is generally used to choose a process of defined magnitude rather than, as would ideally be the case, to choose a load resulting from processes of different magnitudes that occur with different probabilities.
