students of primary to senior classes. Dances,
regaling songs, skits, mimicry of loveable
characteristics of certain Twelfthies by juniors
were all there. Miming of social themes by
middle-level students deserves mention.
Nostalgia, however, took over when departing
school captains, Sober Thoudam and Swati
Sahrawat, took the floor. Master Sober, who
held the titles of School Band Major, Best
Student of the Year 2015 and had represented
the school as footballer in the Helsinki Cup and
Gothia Cup (Sweden), narrated some
vignettes of his unforgettable stay at the
school. His counterpart among girls, Swati, the
achiever of Best Student of the Year 2015, also
shared her bitter-sweet memories in the same
vein.
Board examinees were presented with
greetings and mementos by the Principal, the
Manager and Mrs. Alka Banga. The Principal
in his address went anecdotal and delivered
the message that students always stand to
gain from teachers if only they sincerely listen
to them and strive to follow their guidance in
practice.

NCC exploits
An exposure to professional soldiering came
the way of NCC cadets of Armourd and Air
Wings of the school on January 24th when
they attended the Prime Minister's Rally.
They were charmed by the smart, colourful
activities displayed by the cadets, which
included foreign cadets also, who came
visiting as part of Youth Exchange Programme
of the NCC. They witnessed mass PT battle
action drill which involved BMD T72 and T 90
tanks and Bofors guns as also marching of
troops from different States of India. Skills of
parasailing by cadets were the star attraction
for the Mapsians. Most thrilling for them was
the tank-ride they experienced.
The Mann School gave a memorable send off
to the outgoing Class XII by organizing a
colourful, heart-warming evening in their
honour at the Centre for Performing Arts (CPA)
on 11th February 2016.
The function, presided over by Principal Cdr.
V.K. Banga, was attended by the Manager, Mr.
Gaurav Mann, Mrs. Alka Banga and
distinguished guests. A crisp entertainment
programme was staged on the occasion by

Vyas topping the Junior level. However, it was
Dinesh Jhorar (11th C), a Dayanandian, who
became champion of Senior Division.

TT players of all divisions from Buddha, Vyas
and Dayanand showed a gritty determination
to lift the championship and so played with
good skill, speed and stamina. However,

had to remain content with the runners-up

Individual credits, however, were:
Vyasa's Kunzes Dolma - Girls Champion,
Shivam Sagar of Dayanand - Senior
As the teams of Dayanand and Buddha picked
up rackets for the first clash of the competition ,
they seemed sure to land honours. And when
third rival Vyas joined the battle, the results
were almost transparent to watchers.
Buddha's Zeenat Brar (11th C) won
championship of Girls Div. while Anmol
Aggarwal of Dayanand became her
counterpart at the Junior level and Shivam
Sagar, his Housemate, was declared
champion of the Senior boys.
Housewise credits: Dayanand - I, Buddha - II.
The immensely popular mind game began with
Buddha-Vyas confrontation which once again
proved fateful for the competition. Good fight
was witnessed in almost all matches wherein
maximum victory was recorded by Vyasians.

For the students of classes VI-VIII the school
shifted to the floral environs of the Mughal
Gardens on February 18th, as if. They enjoyed
being frisked by the security staff at the entry
point. They were taken to the herbal garden
and the bonsai section and were thrilled at cool
splashing of water at the musical fountains.
Excitement was writ large on their faces when
a whole new world of tulips, lilies, dahlias and
flowers of different hues, shapes and sizes
was opened to them in the main garden.
Master Anurag Ranjan is the School Band
Major while Ms. Zeenat is an ace horse-rider
besides being Band Major.

Anurag Ranjan School Captain
He would impress upon friends to
be consistent in mannerly
bearing, to dress up smartly, to
converse comfortably in fluent English so as
to become worthy ambassadors of The Mann
School - that's how Anurag adumbrates his
priorities as he takes charge of school
captaincy.
Anurag would love to be a neurosurgeon, but
also dreams of setting up business. Quite a
studies-oriented, painstaking student, he is
no stranger to the co-curriculars. He was
runner-up in Inter House Riding and the Best
Band Major at School level. He has been
representing his House Vyas in athletics,
tennis and cross-country.
An amiable and companionable youth,
Anurag enjoys listening to music, playing on
the guitar and loves to do art work.
Ruth Zorammawii
Chhakchhuak School Captain (Girls)
She would be a neurosurgeon,
God willing, so medical stream in
academics she chose. She plays basketball,
represents her House in crosscountry, art and
drawing. She loves to read novels and to play
the guitar to satisfy the intellectual and artistic
dimensions of her personality make-up.
Studies she rates as her top priority for she
knows what it takes to become a doctor, a
surgeon at that.
A neat, decent person not given much to
words, but a good listener, Ruth does not
stand on ceremony when there is a call to
perform a dance recital or act a piece in a
play, which she did during functions such as
Farewell to the Twelfthies and the New Year
Party.
As for her agenda for her captaincy, she,
wisely enough, says that she will begin with
little things because they add up to big things.
She would encourage young friends to be
active and build character by maximum
participation in multifarious activities in order
to shape up a good future.

a strong urge to flower into an engineer at the
end of the day.
Yash has represented his House in Inter
House competitions like table tennis, cricket,
swimming, science quiz as well as art /
drawing. He is often on the stage for
conducting the morning assembly.
As Vice Captain of the school, he would
motivate students to be 'time-bound, be
academically inclined and maintain
themselves well'.
Zeenat Brar School Vice Captain (Girls)
Slim, smart, suave, wiry Zeenat
justifies her name and her
enviable bearing and attitude
give the promise that she is the right
incumbent for school vice captaincy.
A well-rounded learner who is quite active in
sports, co-curriculars and academics, Zeenat
aims at a business career ultimately. At Inter
Hose level, she has been No. 1 in horse-
riding, volleyball and basketball in the
academic sessions 2015-16 and 2016-17.
She took part in athletics as well as
crosscountry to represent her House, and
leads the School Band as Band Major.
Good at studies, Zeenat spells out her
priorities for her tenure: She will encourage
her charge to go for better discipline, more
and more participation in sports and co-
curricular activities, but to consider
concentration on studies as the Number One
objective.
We wish the new leaders Godspeed in their
constructive endeavours !
