Campfire Jamboree Arts & Crafts Curriculum

 Craft: Clothespin Dragonfly Magnet  Materials: 

Clothespins 

Pipe cleaners 

Markers or liquid watercolor paint (Discount School Supply #LW) 

Wiggle eyes 

Magnet strips 

Procedure: 

Campers can decorate clothes pin with markers or paint. 

Glue loops of pipe cleaners on for wings and glue on eyes. 

Hot glue magnet to back.

Permanent markers (like Sharpies) 

Fabric markers  Prep:  

Insert cardboard (or UPS box) into each shirt to create a firm surface to work on and to prevent the paint from transferring to the other side 

Write each child’s name in large letters on the back of the shirt  Procedure: 

Paint child’s hand with acrylic paint and foam brush according to one of the designs OR for a simpler shirt simply place colored hand prints on the back (kids still love this) 

Carefully press the child’s hand on the back of the shirt under the name 

Wash the child’s hand 

Once the paint has dried, embellish with paint/fabric markers 

Child can also use fabric markers to decorate the front of the shirt (before doing hand design on back)

Craft: Crown Headband  Materials: 

plastic headband (such as OT #IN‐68/45815) 

toilet paper tube 

scissors 

paint 

glue 

glitter 

self‐adhesive embellishments/gems   Prep: 

Cut deep V’s in the end of the paper towel tube to make a crown. 

Poke a hole on opposite sides at the bottom end of each crown (these are for the headband). 

  Procedure: 

Kids can use paint or glue and glitter to decorate the crown. 

Can use stick on embellishments and gems to decorate. 

Once the crown is dry, slide the headband through the holes. You might need to secure it with a dot of hot glue.

Hot glue gun and glue sticks  Procedure:  

Kids paint their sponge ball or cover it with glue and glitter. 

Kids decorate their tube with markers and/or crayons and washi tape. 

Once the ball is dry, the teacher can hot glue it to the top of the tube.

Superhero Training Camp Arts & Crafts Curriculum

 Craft: Superhero Capes  Materials: 

Fabric capes o Such as Oriental Trading DIY Capes (IN‐13590335) 

or Discount School Supply (KRYPTON) 

Superhero alphabet stencils (attached) 

Spray‐on fabric paint o Such as Tulip Fabric Spray Paint 

Fabric markers  Prep: Use the attached Superhero Alphabet Templates to create stencils of the first letter of each camper’s first name or just use a template of the star for each child. To create a stencil, print the desired page on heavy card stock and cut out the white areas.    Procedure: 

Lay the cape out flat (this is probably best done outside in the grass if possible). 

Place the stencil in the desired location on the cape and let the child use the fabric spray paint (use one or more colors as desired) to spray the cape. 

Remove the stencil and have the child use fabric markers to decorate as desired (this is probably best done at a table).

Craft: Paper Plate Alien   Materials: 

Paper Plate 

Green Tissue Paper 

Purple & White Cardstock/Construction Paper 

Scissors 

School Glue  Procedure: 

Tear/cut up your tissue paper into 2×2 inch squares.  

Cover your paper plate completely in school glue. Hand over the paper plate and tissue paper to your child, and ask them to completely cover the plate. 

While they are decorating their plate – cut out the features of the alien’s face. This is where you can get really creative. 

Once the paper plate is completely covered in tissue paper, glue on the facial features. Set aside, to let it dry completely before displaying.
