SPRING 2015

A ordable RecreationThe Strathcona Regional District and the City of Campbell River believe that the strength of a community can often be measured by the health and wellness of the members within it. For this reason our recreation departments work together to try

to eliminate as many barriers to full participation as possible.

Quality Foods – Rec BucksThis program enables Quality Foods shoppers to redeem their Quality Foods points for Rec Bucks. It’s easy to participate! Simply cash in

200,000 Quality Foods points for a $20 Rec Bucks voucher which is redeemable for recreation programs, admission passes and facility rentals.

Jumpstart 4 – 18 YearsJumpStart is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in nancial need participate in organized sport and recreation. To request funding for a program, complete an application form which is available at the Sportsplex or Community Centre. If you require more information regarding the program, call the Community Centre at 250-286-1161.

Kidsport™ So all kids can play! 6 – 18 YearsAt Kidsport™ we believe that no child should be left on the sidelines. That’s why Kidsport™ eliminates the nancial barriers to sport participation. Kidsport™ is a community-based sport charity that provides grants for Canadian children age 6 to 18 to participate in a recognized sport, led by a quali ed coach. The sport must be a liated with a member organization of Sport BC and must be a member of the Campbell River Kidsport™ organization. Grants have a cap of $200 per year, per child. To apply go to: www.kidsportcanada.ca. Mail completed application to: Kids Sport BC, #260-3820 Cessna Dr. Richmond, BC V7B 0A2

table of contentsWelcome to Your Recreation & Culture Department!The Recreation & Culture Department exists to provide r e c r e a t i o n a n d c u l t u r e opportunities and ultimately to help support and create a vibrant, healthy and engaged

community! In 2014, sta undertook an extensive review of service provision and we had an excellent response rate from the community. As you read the Recreation Guide you will see some changes that have been made in response to public input such as; childcare parallel to some tness classes, new weekend programming, and more drop-in and unstructured activity choices. We are also working out in the community to support other organizations with their recreation e orts. We hope you will nd something of interest to support your active lifestyle!
