Did you know…By Gail Sterling 1. Our manager, Gail Sterling’s father, Jim Sterling, who turns 85 years “young” this year, helps us out from time to time in the community. Thank you, Dad for all of your help and expertise! 2. At the time of this printing we have 22 homes for sale through the office. In a community this size the normal amount of homes for sale would be 45 homes. Nice job to John Brown and Ann DiTullio, our sales team on selling so many homes! 3. Each year from January to April we average 4 to 6 home sales per month! From May to December we average 1-2 homes sales per month. We average selling around 40 homes per year. 4. Joel Werner is our new maintenance man. Joel comes to us from Bradenton, Florida. Joel is doing a great job. When you see Joel give him a warm Camelot East welcome. 5. Newby Management Company, Camelot East’s management company, manages 40 manufactured home communities in Florida. Newby’s are #1 in Florida and #17 in all of the United States of America when it comes to manufactured home management companies!

Rules, Rules, Rules!Below are some rule violations that have happened in the past year at Camelot East: 1. No free standing sheds allowed. You have to call the office to get approval on adding onto your utility shed. Just call the office and the manager will come out and show you what can and cannot be done. 2. Wrong color of carport driveway or house color. Please contact the office before you paint anything on the outside of your homes or carport driveway. The colors have to be approved by the office. 3. Make sure you check with the country to see if you need a permit to work on your home. Sarasota County has stringent rules for permitting. If caught

doing work without a permit can result in extensive fines and non- approval of the project from the county. It is better to be safe than sorry. The Camelot East management do not produce county permits for residents. The management only approves the work to be done before you get a permit. 4. Weeds, weeds, weeds! It is the homeowner’s responsibility to have your home power washed, weeded and trimmed. The rules state that the management can come and do the work and charge a 25% surcharge to the resident for the work that was done. Notes from the Social Director

Happy New Year to all of you! It is hard to believe that I have been here for two months. Time sure does fly by. December was a great month here at Camelot East. The Cookie Exchange this year had its largest turn out so far. I can see why, I went and had so much fun. Joanne Anderson does a fabulous job putting it all together. Thank you Joanne! Another success was the Santa “Paws” Parade” we had over 10 dogs participate. The residents came to watch the dogs parade around in their adorable costumes. The top three were Sophie, Sace and Katie! This will definitely be an annual event. Our Christmas Hayride was a lot of fun with Ricky Russell. I must say the mini pies were one of my favorites! Congratulations to Jack & Judy Oropallo for winning first place for the Christmas decoration contest, second place Dianne de BERGH, third place Ray & Flo Schuler. Best golf cart went to Bob & Jacquelin Ruse. Thanks to all who came it was great spending time with all of you. Last but not least the Christmas Brunch filled up quickly this year, the food was amazing and the residents enjoyed this time together. Thank you Ann DiTullio for all your efforts in putting this all together so beautifully. We have great things planned for this month. Starting with our Community Luncheon, we will be honoring our Veterans on January 11th. Our Bi-Annual Auction is January 14th be sure to join us. The Sock Hop on January 20th will be a blast. A very special night with Marcy Downey and Jimmy Mazz on January 29th. At this time of year we all look back and see how much has happened in a year, some happy times some sad times. Whatever challenges or joys we have in our lives we all grow from them. I have learned some are lessons or blessings. As I look back at 2016, it was filled with a lot of change. Sometimes people fear change while actually it can

be a good thing. Things just fall into place at the right times. Even if something does not go as planned it can turn around into something even better than you imagined. I find it exciting to see what is always around the corner. Having a positive outlook and not worrying has been a blessing for me. It is true what they say worrying does not change anything but it robs you of a great day. Concert January 29thMarcy Downey and Jimmy Mazz will be appearing at Camelot East on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Each of them have delighted us in the past with separate performances, and now we have been successful in bringing them back to perform together. Each of them will feature their own individual new show with a duet act at the conclusion. This is one event you do not want to miss!We will have open seating (theater style) and invite you to BYOB everything, if you desire. Tickets will be sold each Tuesday prior to Bingo at the Clubhouse, beginning on December 27, 2016.

Camelot East HOA Board Resolution 1 Tickets Sales for HOA EventsEffective August 1, 2014

On March 6, 2014 Mike Koon makes a motion that ticket sales, after August 1, 2014, would go on sale and be limited to HOA members only for the first two weeks of ticket availability. After the second week, tickets will be available to all residents and guests. This motion will take effect after checking with management about the Social Fund payment. Nancy Cammack seconded the motion. The motion passed with five yes votes and one no vote.Be it resolved that any HOA Member in good standing may buy tickets to HOA events during the first two weeks of ticket sales, beginning with ticket sales after August 1st 2014. The HOA Homeowner may assign their ticket buying rights to a seasonal renter during their occupancy of said property. If the HOA Homeowner member doesn't assign their ticket purchasing rights, the seasonal renter may purchase an associate membership in the HOA, as defined in the Camelot East HOA By-Laws, affording the renter all HOA privileges set in the By-Laws including the right to early sale tickets. This does not affect other

HOA membership rights as described in the HOA Bylaws.

Be it further resolved that this resolution is a policy statement from the Camelot East HOA Board and remains in effect until changed by a future vote of the Board.

Healthy Recipes - Winter Harvest Curry Chicken Salad

Fall fruit adds a twist and replacing mayo with low-fat yogurt makes it a little healthier. This is great for leftover chicken.Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

• 1 Boneless, Skinless cooked chicken breast, chopped or shredded

• 1/2 cup chopped apple• 1/2 cup cranberries roughly chopped• 3 tablespoons low-fat yogurt• 1 tablespoon Fat-free mayo• 1/2 teaspoon curry powder.

DirectionsRoughly chop apple and cranberry. Chop or shred chicken breast. Combine all ingredients.

Getting to know you….By Joyce Russell

Esther Paznanski, is a longtime resident here at Camelot East. She moved here with her husband Tom 15 years ago. Their home was originally the Camelot East sales office. Esther is from New Jersey where she was a secretary for New Jersey Bell. Esther’s husband Tom was a Chemist at Merck & Company, later on

became a Math and Chemistry teacher. They were happily married for almost 65 years, and have two children, Tom and Gail. She has 5 Grand kids and 10 Great Grandchildren. Esther and Tom enjoyed entertaining and being around family and friends, also went on many cruises which included a trip to Europe where they went to 9 different countries in 16 days. When I asked her what she loved about Camelot East she smiled and said,” all of the things that there are to do here”. Tom and Esther were on the committee and got to know many wonderful people. With the loss of her husband Tom, whom people called “Gentleman Tom”, living in this community has been a blessing for her, as she does not feel all alone.

Wayne and MaryAnn Ramirez have been part time residents for 3 years. They are here approx imate ly 5 months and in Arkansas the rest of the year. Wayne was born in New York City and MaryAnn in

Racine Wisconsin. They met at the University of Wisconsin and were married in 1973. They have four children, Gina Marie, Steven Wayne, Anthony Stephen, and Beth Ann, as well as 8 Grandchildren. In 1974 the family moved to Puerto Rico to help with Wayne's parents business. Wayne secured a position as Head Master of a Private College Prep

School, and MaryAnn as Development Officer. They lived in Puerto Rico for 14 1/2 years, and then relocated to The United States Virgin Islands. Wayne worked at another College Prep School and then accepted the position of Assistant Director of Special Education for all three islands. MaryAnn worked in the Senate then, with Governor Paiewonsky., and finally retired as Director of The Resource center for children and adults with disabilities. They had the opportunity to work with the Kennedys, serving as Coordinators of The Very Special Arts Festivals. After retiring and moving to Arkansas, they owned and operated an authentic 1950's ice cream parlor/antique shop. Wayne still writes Grants for The US Virgin Islands and has brought in over $10 Million dollars to the island. Wayne, also, started the First Art Therapy Association in the State of Wisconsin in 1969, developed and taught the first courses at The University of Wisconsin, and Mount Mary College. While here, Wayne enjoys painting and sketching, while MaryAnn has had the opportunity to sing with some local bands, one of which is Camelot Easts own Bob Gates, and our own Armand Olevano. Wayne, MaryAnn and their children are bi-lingual. They sure keep busy. These are just a few of the highlights of their lives, but we had to stop somewhere.

Margaret Geisert, is our Administrative Office

Assistant. She has been with Camelot East for 15 years! Born in Chicago, Illinois but raised in Southern California. Margaret married her husband Steve in 1984 and had two boys, Steve 31 and Erich 27. Margaret was a stay at home Mom and did some accounting work. Margaret and Steve

moved to Sarasota in 1998. In 2001 she started her position here at Camelot East. She loves to travel and has been to Alaska, Canada, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Mexico and Puerto Rico along with a few more! Margaret also loves cats, whose names are Gaby and Silvester. We appreciate all that she does here at Camelot East.

The beginning of a new year often brings out the desire for new beginnings resulting in the New Year’s Resolution! Many begin and end on the same day or taper off before the month is out. It’s really quite difficult to make changes in our lives and very often we make it even harder by biting off more-much more than we can chew particularly as we age.In The Gift of Years, Joan Chittister writes: “A burden of these years is that we might allow ourselves to become less than what we are able to be more quickly than we ever should.”For years, I’d make resolutions to live a healthier lifestyle which went nowhere; then I finally had an epiphany! I needed to look at what health and wellness meant to me yesterday, what it means today, as well as what it would look like five or ten years from now. Despite growing older, we actually have more control than we think we do about our health. Bad hips, Knees, shoulders, feet? Arthritis? Recovering from surgery? Dealing with dementia? Let’s be honest. No one looks forward to being incapacitated. Yet, I have seen people from 50 to 90 deal with the worst health problems imaginable and come back swinging! I’ve also seen others who become angry, miserable and devastated. Why? I truly believe those who fare well, have (whether they are aware of it or not) developed a vision of wellness which brings them life. A vision of wellness does not ignore the body, but it incorporates it with the mind and spirit. A vision of wellness starts by being grateful for the gifts we have been given, being realistic about what we can and can’t do, refusing to allow our limitations to define us, setting wellness goals that are attainable, and taking the best care of our bodies, minds and spirits that we can.Joan Chittister tells us:”A blessing of these years is that they call us to go down deep into ourselves in order to discover everything we are. Camelot East Bi-Annual Auction:James Bondur

January 14, 2017 is the date for this event, so mark your calendars and start scouring your homes for those unwanted items that you would like to donate to the Camelot East HOA Biannual Auction. This season’s auction will be held on Saturday afternoon,

so mark your calendars and plan to attend this exciting event. We will accept most household items, including furniture, but we will not be able to accept old televisions, computers, or printers. The Auction will have two parts:

• On Friday afternoon and evening from 3:00 PM till 7:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 noon till 2:00 PM, there will be a Flea Market sale for small items. The Flea Market item pricing will be from $1.00 - $5.00.

• Saturday at 2:00 Steve and Ed will kick off the Auction with bidding for the higher priced items. You will find this to be very entertaining.

Refreshments will be severed during this afternoon event. You can drop your items in the Club House auditorium starting at 10:00 AM on Friday January 13th or call James Bondur (315) 289-5248 by January 12th, so he can arrange to have the item(s) picked up. All the unsold items will be donated to charity.This event has been very successful in the past and I want to thanks everyone who has donated and purchased items from this event. Mixed Bowling League

We will begin bowling on the January 5th at 1pm at the AMF on Route 41. We would love to have any resident interested in joining to call Ron Stauffer at 610-413-7000. Come on out and enjoy a day of fun and fellowship.

CAMELOT LADIES BOWLING

November was a busy month for our bowlers. The first week of November was the time to pick up splits. Seven splits were picked up. Jaque Ruse picked up a tough 3-10 split with Carole Cormier and Lynn Morong picking up a 4-5. Sue Carlson picked up a 3-7, Sue Roberts a 6-10, and Flo Schuler picked up a 3-4 and a 2-7. Colette Valentine was a sub this week and showed us her talents by bowling a 179 game and getting a turkey. Betty Christatos had a nice 161 game and Carol Gaudino a 155.

This week was another great week for picking up splits. Carole Cormier picked up a 2-7, Robelle Feffer the 5-10, Joan Collins the 4-5 and Estelle Thomas the 5-6 and the 3-7-10. Joanne Bailey had a great week bowling two nice games, 163 and 154. Joan Collins had a nice 166 game, Betty Christatos a 158, Susan Carlson a 155, Lynn Morong a 167 and Judy Shafer the high game of 171. Great bowling gals.

Week 3 again had our gals picking up plenty of splits. Patty Schreiber picked up a 3-10 as did Lynn Morong. Lynn also picked up a 4-7-10. Susan Carlson picked up two splits, a 4-7-9 and a 6-10. Carole Cormier picked up a 5-6-10. Our “split queen” for the week was Carol Gaudino who picked up three 5-7 splits and a 2-7-5 as well. Wow! Wave Greenwald, who is new to bowling this year, got her first turkey this week. Way to go Wave! Marcia Robinson, who has helped us out as a sub, had two turkeys this week and games of 162 and 169. Betty Christatos had two nice games with a 161 and a 159 plus a turkey. Judy Shafer had a nice 174 game and a turkey as well. Lynn Morong had high game of the week with a 189. Susan Carlson had a great 157 game. Every week gets better! Never have had so many turkeys in one week.

Not a single turkey week four, but plenty of great bowling. Joanne Bailey pulled out the high game of the week with a 173. Connie Keller had a nice 168 game. Lynn Morong had a great day with two nice games of 169 and 159. She also picked up a 5-7 split. We are so glad Lynn joined us this year. Susan Carlson continues to bowl games over 150 and had a nice 158 game. Betty Christatos continues as our top bowler and came up with a 166. Judy Shafer had a 151 game and Patty Schreiber a

150 game. These are some great scores! Wave Greenwald picked up a 4-5 split as did Joanne Anderson and Jacki Ebel. Patty Schreiber picked up a 5-7 split as did Sue Roberts.

Used up all the turkeys for Thanksgiving because we did not have one turkey this week. We had some nice games though with the high game of 181 from Joan Collins followed by a great 176 from Lynn Morong. Susan Carlson was bowling great this week and ended up with two games of 161. Wow, good job. Carol Gaudino had a nice 154 game and Anne Larsen who helped us out as a sub had three nice games of 154, 161 and 155. Jaque Ruse picked up a 4-5-7 split, Sue Carlson a 4-9, Lynn Morong a 4-5 and Robelle Feffer a 5-10.Some of our bowlers will be leaving for the holidays so we will be bowling 2 weeks in December. We have adopted three children from the giving tree and collected money for toys and clothing. Our bowlers are a generous group of gals and we collected close to $200.00 for the cause.

This is something that all drivers should know! Hope no one ever needs to do this. I always wondered why the 2 posts on the bottom of the headrest were pointed, now I know.The headrest of car seats is deliberately kept detachable and sharp so that it could be used to break open the glass in case of fire and an emergency. The car’s glass too are kept easily breakable from inside. Very few people know about it and thus can’t save themselves in case of emergencies. Please share it with as many possible and educate.

The Italian dinner is a distant memory but I think our stomachs will be full for quite a while. The night could not have happened without the following WONDERFUL residents: Sue Baux, Ron Stauffer, Carole and Hector Cormier, Joann and Bob Anderson, Jackie and Tim Ebel, Paggy and Joe Antenucci, and Carol Gaudino. They served you with a smile and kept your plates full!Everyone feasted on salad, antipasti, pasta and

meatballs, chicken piccata , roasted vegetables and Lemoncello cake. With their dessert coffee they also enjoyed some libation. What Italian meal would be complete without the guests taking home some food? The committee made sure there was plenty of food for the guests to take home to remember them and the Fiesta Italia for several more days.Thank you again to the committee and to the residents who supported the night of food and friends.

National Bath Safety Awareness Month. In the United States, an average of 370 people across all age groups suffer bathtub or shower-related injuries every day. Slips, falls, and hot-water burns are the prime causes of accidents in the bath and the second leading cause of accidental death and disability. Where can I walk my pet? This question is the most asked question I have as the manager at Camelot East and I want to answer it so everyone understands the boundaries and the rules.The lots around the circumference of the community are called PERIMETER lots. Over the years they have been mistakenly called pet lots. The PERIMETER lots just happen to be the only lots we allow residents to have pets in their home without a Doctors order. You do not have to own a pet to purchase a home on the PERIMETER lots.The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) mandates that the community must give “ reasonable accommodations” to residents who have either a service animal or companion pet with a Doctors orders to reside on a NON-PERIMETER lot. However, those pet owners must abide by the same rules for pet walking as the PERIMETER home owners with pets do.1. As you can see on the map all pets are to be

walked on the designated “White” areas.2. They are to have their pets on a leash.3. They must pick up their doggie waste in a plastic

bag.4. They are to have their pets on a short leash so they

do not have dog waste in someone’s hedges or flower area beside their homes.

5. The next rule most residents don’t know or don’t remember... the pet owner can only walk their pet and have their pet “ do their duty” on PERIMETER LOTS ONLY! Not on inside lots that are across the road from PERIMETER lots.

6. A pet owner must carry their pet if they want access to another PERIMETER area to walk their pet. No crossing the non- pet areas is allowed unless the pet is carried or carted to a PERIMETER area.

7. At NO TIME is a pet owner allowed to walk their pets around the LAKE CAMELOT!

8. Any dog who habitually barks and becomes a nuisance or a threat to the community and its residents will be evicted from the community, regardless if it is a service animal or a companion pet. Unfortunately, in my career as a manager, I have had to evict 2 dogs from a community.

9. If habitual violations occur the pet owner can be evicted from the community because of rules violations.

10. All immunizations records on their pets must be kept current and a copy of them must be supplied to the office to be put into the residents file. This is for health and safety reasons.
