The Golden Goose

Once upon a time there was a goose who hadbeautiful golden feathers. Not far away from this goose

lived a very poor woman with her two daughters. The

goose saw that they were having a hard time, and pitied

them. He said to himself: If I give them one after

them, and with the money she and her daughters can

then live in comfort.

comfort. And the goose gave her one of his feathers and

From time to time he came back, and each time

comfort. But one day the mother said to her daughters:

The daughters said: That will hurt the goose.

We will not do such a thing. But the mother was greedy.

The next time the golden goose came, she took hold of

him with both hands, and began to pull out his feathers.

But if a golden gooses feathers are plucked out against

his wishes, they no longer remain golden, but turn white

and are of no more value than chicken-feathers. The new

ones that grow are not golden but plain white.

As time went on his feathers grew again, and heflew away to his home and never came back. And as

I Karma and the coconut oil

I Karma was a farmer who lived alone after his parents

had died. Before his mother died, she had given him a

bottle of coconut oil. A few days after his mothers

death, a strange thing happened. When I Karma came

home after working in his field, he found some food on

Talaga Warna

Long ago there was a kingdom in West Java. Th e

kingdom was ruled by a king called Prabu. Prabu was a

kind and wise king, and there was no hunger in his

kingdom. But Prabu and his queen didnt have any

children. It made them very, very sad.Then one day Prabu went into the jungle. Th ere

he prayed to his god for a child. A few months later, the

queen was expecting a baby, and all the people in the

Prabu and the queen loved their little daughter

and gave her everything. Th is made the princess a very

became very angry. But even though the princess

Indonesian pop music

Indonesian pop music today is known as PopIndonesia. It is heavily infl uenced by American pop

music, although there are also infl uences from

Bollywood as well as Hollywood.

Indonesian life. The band Koes Bersaudara, which later
