Every year I write this letter I think it is the most exciting time in the cattle business! I continue to believe it is the most exciting time ever to be in this business. It looks as though the next three to five years will possibly be the most profitable ever!

Ruby and I attended the LaGrande, Oregon Cattlemans Workshop January 11th and listended to many excellent speakers. The final speaker was Tom Brink of Brink Consulting, Formerly with 5 Rivers Cattle. His thoughts and observations were that cow/calf producers in the next five years would receive $300 - $600 profit above cash costs of raising calves. He stated that cow kill would drop 10-20% in the years 2014-2015. With some heifer retention starting the supply of feeder cattle would drop even more and with our beef exports becoming more desired by the Asian population profits should be excellent.

Mr. Brink also stated that the most profit to be made was through the use of top genetics, and that the top end genetics were running away from the pack of average genetics. Cattle from the top end genetics have an average ever $200 a head premium over average cattle.

I have said for years, and have done so with our herd, that a person should surround themselves with the best genetics they can afford. I will continue to say the same, as good genetics always improve your bottom line.

As always we are offering bulls that are ready to go to work with the following: Allperformancedataincludingultrasoundlistedincatalog Soundvaccinationprogram,pleaseseepage2forthePerformancePlusVacProgram AthoroughbreedingsoundnessexamperformedbyTerryMcCoy,thepickiestvetinthebusiness. You will see on page 2 of this catalog how our bulls are developed and what vaccinations they have had. Our bulls are developed slowly so they will hold up better for a longer time.

Banner Bank will be hosting coffee and pastries the morning of the sale. Then please join us for lunch sponsored by the consignors and Likkel Insurance. A tri-tip BBQ lunch cooked by Idaho/Lewis County Cattleman Assoc. will be served at 11:00 am.

Fellow Cattlemen: It has been another incredible year for the American Rancher as we have yet again seen a very strong demand for our product. Most importantly

it has been a market which has rewarded producers for the quality they provide and has paid premiums, so to speak, for those that have invested in genetics and health programs. There has never been a more important time to analyze your reproductive program: A strong genetic base, adequate bull to cow ratio, performance, and efficiency will reward dividends for years to come. There isnt a better investment in America today Just think about what those black females are going to be worth, I guarantee they will only get higher!

We sincerely value your support of our program and the Performance Plus Bull Sale. Each generation of bulls we produce just seem to get better, and we firmly believe the bulls that we are offering in our sale this year are our best to date. We are excited to present two extremely strong sire groups of bulls this year out of CCC Merritt and CCC Warden, both herd bulls that were raised here and topped our 2011 sale. The calves sired by these bulls have tremendous volume and rib shape, eye appeal, and have shown unprecedented performance. We are very pleased with the sister mates to these bulls and cant wait to see the calves they will produce. Both of these sires will continue to see heavy use here in the next several breeding seasons, and there are several sons out of this years offering that we will use back in our program.

The Crouthamel Cattle cow herd is tested BVD and Johnes free, and all cattle are given modified live vaccines. They are kept on a custom Per-formix liquid mineral program in the winter and a custom summer mineral while on pasture. These bulls have been vaccinated with three rounds of modified live vaccine, clostridium, mycoplasma, pasturilla, and haemophilus, and have been wormed orally and topically. These bulls have been tested negative for BVD and all genetic defects recognized by the American Angus Association. They have all been ultrasounded, semen tested, and have passed a breeding soundness exam. We cull the bulls rigorously based on structure, soundness, and disposition.

We would like to remind you that you are not only investing in bulls on sale day but a proven program and a guarantee that is the best in the country. We believe these bulls will hold up and work for you in any environment, with our solid guarantee, Backed by Intergity. We stand behind these cattle 110% and assure them to work for you or we will take them back.

I encourage you to let us help with your sale day selection based on your genetic needs, marketing options, and reproduction program. Dont hesitate to call, we would be happy to talk with you about the bulls and cowherd. We endorse a sight unseen policy: You dont like em- you dont own em, no questions asked.

We appreciate your consideration of our program and look forward to visiting with you throughout the year.
