The Spring-like Season A ‘must-do’ for anyone living in or visiting Caloundra/ Kalowendah.

Neurungun season celebrates the dawning of new ways, new cycles and new growth on Kalowendah Country. It’s a season that lasts for weeks; a time for people to come together and do things, not just spectate. You’ll be joining us for a milestone. For the fi rst time, our local Custodians will be celebrating Kalowendah’s Neurungun with us. We’ll be learning as we go and doing our bit to drive the vibrations through Kalowendah

Country for the entire festival program. Learn what’s going on under your feet and all around you to get ready for the full impact of Neurungun on this amazing Country. New ways can be found every day at Kings Beach: eat and drink your way through the bush tucker cafe; take in the lessons from interactive displays; fi nd your own way to learn about Neurungun with evolving daily activities for all ages. Weave, listen, draw, imagine, paint, sculpt, dance, play, make, write, record and move to the 2013 Neurungun story. The less you think you know the better! Most activities are free. Neurundah Yow’wah Warai is an all-day celebration not to be missed (Tues October 1st); and you’ll fi nd our Custodian’s visual arts satellite exhibition pieces across Caloundra sites. We thank Caloundra Custodians and Kabbarli HACC for their key role in driving this event. Find us at www.facebook.com/Neurungun.

Old time German barrel organ music The barrel organ is a traditional German musical instrument used for generations by buskers and entertainers. Barrel organs are valuable because they preserve old styles of musical ornamentation. They reached a peak of popularity in the late 18th and early 19th centuries; some played the psalms in village churches until well into the 20th century. They are sometimes confused with other handle-operated street instruments, including the barrel piano and the hurdy-gurdy.

Bumper boats & water ballsHead down to Happy Valley for crazy fun times in the all-new aqua playground! The bumper boats are surrounded by air-fi lled tubing which makes them a lot like dodgem cars on water, giving an old favourite a new twist. Children of all ages can drive their own little boat in complete safety. In the water balls, each person is put in their own air-fi lled ball and moved into the pool of water. This allows a ‘walk on water” effect without getting wet. You can either lay back and relax, try to bump other balls, or run as fast as you can.
