Forest floorMushrooms and fungi live in
warm, wet and moist conditions. The forest floor is
mostly dark and humid because of the canopy
leaves.
Most of the largest animals live on the forest floor.
The canopy layer lets only 2% of light through into the forest floor.
Understorey
Animals have colourful patterns to hide in the rainforest.
This layer is made out of young trees and vines.
The small amount of light encourages plants to find smart ways of finding light.
Here are some examples of animals: Red eyed tree frog, fruit bat, Jaguars and Leopards.
The plants in this layer don’t grow higher than 12 foot tall.
Canopy
Most of the rain is stopped by thick leaves.
There are plants that’s roots don’t touch the ground these plants are called Air plants.
The Canopy is not a problem for food.
These are some animals that lives in the Canopy: birds, lizards, monkeys and butterfly's.
Emergent
The trees in this layer have flowers in them. These flowers have nectar in them which is food to many Birds.
The trees in this layer can grow as tall as a sky scrapper.
