CALL FOR NOMINATION FOR MEMBERS OF THE NORTH WEST TOURISM BOARD (INTERIM BOARD)

The MEC for the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism in the North West Province hereby calls for nominations of suitably qualified candidates with the requisite skills, experience and integrity to serve in the board of the North West Tourism Board in terms of s7 of the North West Tourism Act, Act Number 2 of 2015.

TheThe North West Tourism Board is a S3 (c ) of the Public Finance Management Act, Act number 01 of 1999 as amended state owned entity es-tablished by the North West Tourism Board Act, Act number 2 of 2015. The objective of the board in terms of s4 of the Act are to:

* Market the Province as a tourism destination locally, provincially, nationally and internationally;* Provide tourism training skills transfer in the sector;* Facilitate tourism investment promotion in the Province;* Create enabling environment for access to markets for new entrants in the tourism sector in the Province, and * Contribute to the establishment of enabling environment for job creation in the tourism sector in the Province.

The powers, duties and function of the Board are stipulated in s5 of the said ActThe following nomination criteria are hereby specified in terms of s7 (6) of the Act:

Nomination procedure

A detailed CV, accompanied by the motivation letter attesting to suitability of the nominee, certified copy of an ID and certificates of qualification must be sent to the address indicated below. Emailed nominations will not be considered

In terms of Section 7 (4) of the North West Tourism Board Act of 2015 candidates are required to be:

* * Be fit and proper persons to serve the best interest of the Province;* Be characterised by their independence, impartially and fairness; and * Collectively possess- * Legal skills, experience and qualifications;* Financial skills, experience and qualifications;* Extensive knowledge of and experience in business management including human resources management and labour relations * Extensive knowledge of and experience in the tourism industry; and ** Any other skill, experience or qualification that might be of benefit to the Board.

Term of office

Normally the term of office of the Board is for a maximum period of three (3) years or lesser as may be determine by the MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism in terms of s9 of the Act. In this instance, the Member of the Executive seeks to appoint an interim Board until the reconfiguration process is finalised which period can take between three (3) and six (6) months.
