HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE GARDENS ’ BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION P ROGRAM October 4 – October 28, 2011

Venue: University of Denver Museum of Anthropology Gallery

You are cordially invited to participate in the annual Botanical Illustration Art Show.Your dedication to mastering the skills of botanical art and illustration makes usextremely proud and we would like to showcase your success in a public exhibit.We welcome artists who have participated in Denver Botanic Gardens’ BotanicalArt and Illustration Program from July 2009 through summer 2011. Artworks of alllevels and in any media taught in the program are welcome. This is an opportunityto be part of a group show, and we encourage you to join us.

RECEPTION AND CELEBRATION FOR THE 2011 GRADUATES : S UNDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1-3 P .M.

Eligibility : Open to artists enrolled in the Botanical Art and Illustration courses July 2009through summer 2011.

Media and Size: Original artwork in all media offered in the Botanical Art and Illustrationprograms are eligible. Artwork must exactly fit into a 16” x 20” frame. Frames areprovided. (NOTE: Book arts are also accepted)

Submission : Each artist may submit one piece of artwork. You must include a signedentry form for your submission. Send your entry form to: Exhibits Department, BI AnnualShow, Denver Botanic Gardens, 909 York Street, Denver, CO 80206. (You can also bringyour contribution in in-person) or email [email protected] bySeptember 16, 2011.

Presentation: The submitted 2-dimensional artwork must be matted (hinged matting).Follow the presentation guidelines and requirements for the Botanical Art and IllustrationCertificate Program portfolio ( http://portfolio-mhjk.blogspot.com/ ) for the specific mediaused. Mats must be 4- or 8-ply, white, soft-white, antique-white, silk, san dollar or black.The art must exactly fit into a 16” x 20” frame.

Labeling: Label the back of the artwork with your name, address, phone number, e-mailaddress, the Latin name of species portrayed and the sale status. Artwork itself can belabeled (incl. the Latin name) if the identification and spelling is confirmed.

Art Drop off: The matted artwork must be delivered to Botanical Art and Illustration office,Denver Botanic Gardens (second level on the Gardens’ main building) betweenSeptember 19 th through 23 rd, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

De-Installation and Art Pickup : Unsold artwork will be available for artists to pick upafter November 1 st .

Sales: Works may not be removed until the close of the exhibition. Denver BotanicGardens will retain a 30% commission fee for all artwork sold. Proceeds benefit theBotanical Art and Illustration Program.
