HOCN, community residents, and neighborhood organizations are committed to creating mixed-income neighborhoods where families will enjoy a high quality of life. In order to support affordable housing needs in our community through 2012, HOCN will be hosting a Silent Auction and Benefit in November, entitled “Art for Sustainability”. For this benefit, we are currently seeking donated artworks of professional quality to be auctioned. Artworks can include drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures, graphic design, pottery, jewelry and prints. Artworks are encouraged to reflect on home, community, and/or the Lower West Side, however are not limited to this subject. Heart of the City is proud to say that 94% of our finances go back into our community. Every dollar made from “Art for Sustainability” will be put into providing quality, affordable housing to Buffalo’s Lower West Side. Artist contributions will be recognized through promotion of this fundraiser, as well as at the event. Artists will have bios displayed next to their work, and will additionally be invited to join us at this event to network. All contributions are tax deductible, to the limits allowed by law, as no goods or services were provided to you in consideration of your generosity, and a letter confirming the amount of your donation will be provided for tax purposes. Artists can participate by filling out the attached Original Artwork Submission Application by no later that October 14th, 2011. Please feel free to make as many copies as necessary and distribute as you see fit. “ART FOR SUSTAINABILITY” Silent Auction & Benefit

Before you submit your application, please make sure that you have met the eligibility

requirements:

  All artwork must be donated to Heart of the City with the purpose of being auctioned. All

proceeds from your donated work will go towards providing quality, affordable housing

opportunities to Buffalo’s Lower West Side.

  Artwork may include paintings, drawings, graphic design, photography, small sculptures,

pottery, jewelry, and prints of original works

  All artwork must be original, or a print of an original

  Artwork submitted for review must be available for exhibition on the date of the event

  Artists must coordinate the transport of their work(s) to Heart of the City Neighborhoods, Inc.,

unless other arrangements are made with the agency, by no later than Monday, October 31st 

Please include with your application: 

Two (2) digital photographs of your artwork

If you mail your submission, please include a CD or USB instead of a printed copy or slide.

Please note that CDs and USBs can be returned, if arrangements are made with agency.
