SIERRA ARTS CENTER launchesCALL FOR ARTISTIC HOMES 2012,
A project for the realization of six artist residencies and/or collective or artistic projects to develop from May to October 2012.
Introduction:
Since its opening in July 2010, SIERRA ARTS CENTER is configured as a living space and open contemporary art and creation between. A unique and singular characteristics of natural space for creation and production of proposals and their openness to the rural environment and human surroundings.Since intervention projects in the natural area of the farm The Veneros-over 70 hectares of land- the production of parts and projects video / film art, performance, installation ... the realization of laboratories and workshops, meetings and events, concerts, activities, research projects ... the work of SIERRA is deployed in this year and a half of existence in many fields of creation and production of art.The nearness to the population, a fundamental axis of our philosophy of action, together with the protection and sustainable use of space and the natural environment have created a project that is released now, after the experiences in 2011, the call for specific art projects residences.
The residences will take place from May to October 2012
BASES
Participants:
Can participate artists, collectives and art projects of any age or nationality.If groups or projects the maximum number of people admitted to the residence is two.
Deadlines for proposals:
The deadline for submission is 10 February to 31 March 2012.Projects must be submitted exclusively via e-mail to the following address:[email protected] other documentation required, we will contact artists for shipment by post.
Basic requirements for submission of projects:
•Projects must provide, in any circumstances, the natural environment and the vanishing lines of the environment to specific fields of contemporary art and the approach to the specific environment of the Sierra of Huelva and its inhabitants.
•Can be both unprecedented and continuation of previous processes that culminate in the work of the residence or have further development.
•Each project must include the realization of one or more pieces in whatever format (intervention, research and archiving, video / film, performance, painting, sculpture, photography ... or these in conjunction with other disciplines such as dance, architecture ... )
•at least one or some of the produced pieces during the residency will become part of SIERRA, whatever its format. This circumstance shall be by mutual agreement with the artists and the organization.
•The projects they undertake to enter during the period of residence, at least one activity aimed at the surrounding population (workshop, screenings, actions ...)
•The residences will be for a period not less than one week and not more than 15 days. These periods will be determined by the organization and artists based on the strict necessity of the project.
Project evaluation committee:
A commission formed by members of SIERRA ARTS CENTER evaluate the projects and its adaptation to the terms and the concept thereof. The decision of the commission will be announced before April 10, 2012.
Undertakings by SIERRA:
•Facilitate the stay, full board and lodging (maximum) 2 people per household.
•Facilitate either before or during residency, logistical and human as the circumstances require, for the realization of project, by providing artists the means available at the art center.
•The direction of SIERRA will consider several residences that can be done simultaneously at the same time to promote the exchange of experiences.
•In some cases you can see the co-production project between the / artists and SIERRA.
Undertakings by the artists:
•Implement the project under the conditions agreed by signing a contract with the organization, timing and modes agreed.
•Make at least one activity directed to the environment and local people.
•Artists must pay for their trips and journeys, both outward and back. SIERRA will not pay under any circumstances, travel and additional costs not agreed with the artists.
