The�Knights�of�Columbus�will� be�hosting�a�breakfast�on�Sunday�April� 28th�after� all�Mass� times.�� The� cost� is� $5� per� person� and�$15/family� with� proceeds� donated� to� Feed� the� Need� Durham.��Come�out�for�good�food�and�fellowship.�

SOCIETY�OF�ST�VINCENT�DE�PAUL�The� Society� of� Saint� Vincent� de� Paul� and� the� Knights� of�Columbus� will� be� holding� their� 2nd� annual� Food� Drive� and�Bundle�Sunday�for�our�Parish�on�the�weekend�of�May�4th�and�5th.�For�every�bag�of�groceries�with�at�least�5�items�donated,�the� Knights� of� Columbus� will� donate� $5.00� to� the� Saint�Vincent� de� Paul� Society.� Most� needed� items� are:�� peanut�butter,�canned�tuna/salmon,�coffee/tea,�pasta�sauces,�cereal,�pork�&�beans.�Thank�you�for�helping�our�neighbours�in�need.�

In�January�and�February�2019,�Holy�Family�held�our�Rebuilt�Book�Club�–�and�the�response�was�incredible.�Over�300�parishioners�read�the�book,�then�met�for�6�weekly�sessions�to�discuss,�reflect,�and�discern�how�we�can�take�inspiration�from�their�story,�for�our�Parish�Mission:�love�God,�love�others,�make�disciples.�

EMOTIONALLY�HEALTHY�SPIRITUALITY�DISCIPLESHIP�THAT�DEEPLY�CHANGES�YOUR�RELATIONSHIP�

WITH�GOD�In�our�ongoing�efforts�to�continue�building�a�culture�of�discipleship�here�at�Holy�Family,�we�will�be�offering� the�Emotionally�Healthy�Spirituality�course.�The�course�is�very�different�from�the�previous�courses�we�have�offered,� and�will� unpack� core� biblical� principles� to� guide� you� into� an�experience� of� lasting,� beneath�the�surface� transformation� in� your�relationship�with�Christ.�Each�of�us�engage�in�various�important�spiritual�activities�and�disciplines�–�Bible�study,�Small�groups,�Prayer,�Service�to�Others,�Worship,�Scripture�&�Spiritual�Warfare�–�and�these�all�have�a�place�in�our�spiritual�journey�and�development.�They�inform�our�intellects,�and�enrich�our�hearts,�and�we�need�them�to�be�fully�formed�disciples�of�Christ.�However,�it�is�possible,�especially� when� done� in� isolation,� that� they� could� add� an� additional�protective�layer�against�growing�up�emotionally.�When� people� have� authentic� spiritual� experiences—such� as� worship,�prayer,� Bible� studies,� and� fellowship—sometimes,� they� mistakenly�believe�they�are�doing� fine,�even� if� their� relational� life� is� fractured�and�their� interior� world� is� disordered.� Their� apparent� "progress"� then�provides�a�spiritual�reason�for�not�doing�the�hard�work�of�maturing.�They�are�deceived�–�with�spiritual�growth�in�certain�areas�of� life,� it’s�easy�to�ignore�the�otherwise�glaring�signs�of�emotional�immaturity.��In�our�more�honest�moments,�most�of�us�will�admit�that,�much�like�an�iceberg,�we�are�made�up�of�deep� layers� that�exist�well�beneath�our�day�to�day�awareness.�As�the�illustration�shows,�only�about�10�percent�of�an�iceberg�is�visible.�This�10�percent�represents�the�ways�we�conduct�ourselves�and�the�changes�we�make�that�others�can�see.��When�we�make�positive�changes�to�these�visible�aspects�of�our�lives,�we�become�nicer�people,�more�respectful,�we�attend�church�and�participate�regularly.�We� "clean�up�our� lives"� somewhat�by�addressing�any� issues�ranging� from�alcohol�and�drug�use� to� foul� language� to� illicit�behaviour�and�beyond.�We�begin�to�pray�and�share�Christ�with�others.�But�the�roots�of�who�we�are�continue�unchanged�and�unmoved.�Contemporary� spiritual� formation� and� discipleship�models� address� some� of� that� 90� percent� below� the�surface.�The�problem�is�that�a�large�portion�(below�the�dotted� line)� remains� untouched� by� Jesus� Christ� until�there�is�a�serious�engagement�with�emotionally�healthy�spirituality.��

EMOTIONALLY�HEALTHY�SPIRITUALITY�DISCIPLESHIP�THAT�DEEPLY�CHANGES�YOUR�RELATIONSHIP�

WITH�GOD�In�our�ongoing�efforts�to�continue�building�a�culture�of�discipleship�here�at�Holy�Family,�we�will�be�offering� the�Emotionally�Healthy�Spirituality�course.�The�course�is�very�different�from�the�previous�courses�we�have�offered,� and�will� unpack� core� biblical� principles� to� guide� you� into� an�experience� of� lasting,� beneath�the�surface� transformation� in� your�relationship�with�Christ.�Each�of�us�engage�in�various�important�spiritual�activities�and�disciplines�–�Bible�study,�Small�groups,�Prayer,�Service�to�Others,�Worship,�Scripture�&�Spiritual�Warfare�–�and�these�all�have�a�place�in�our�spiritual�journey�and�development.�They�inform�our�intellects,�and�enrich�our�hearts,�and�we�need�them�to�be�fully�formed�disciples�of�Christ.�However,�it�is�possible,�especially� when� done� in� isolation,� that� they� could� add� an� additional�protective�layer�against�growing�up�emotionally.�When� people� have� authentic� spiritual� experiences—such� as� worship,�prayer,� Bible� studies,� and� fellowship—sometimes,� they� mistakenly�believe�they�are�doing� fine,�even� if� their� relational� life� is� fractured�and�their� interior� world� is� disordered.� Their� apparent� "progress"� then�provides�a�spiritual�reason�for�not�doing�the�hard�work�of�maturing.�They�are�deceived�–�with�spiritual�growth�in�certain�areas�of� life,� it’s�easy�to�ignore�the�otherwise�glaring�signs�of�emotional�immaturity.��In�our�more�honest�moments,�most�of�us�will�admit�that,�much�like�an�iceberg,�we�are�made�up�of�deep� layers� that�exist�well�beneath�our�day�to�day�awareness.�As�the�illustration�shows,�only�about�10�percent�of�an�iceberg�is�visible.�This�10�percent�represents�the�ways�we�conduct�ourselves�and�the�changes�we�make�that�others�can�see.��When�we�make�positive�changes�to�these�visible�aspects�of�our�lives,�we�become�nicer�people,�more�respectful,�we�attend�church�and�participate�regularly.�We� "clean�up�our� lives"� somewhat�by�addressing�any� issues�ranging� from�alcohol�and�drug�use� to� foul� language� to� illicit�behaviour�and�beyond.�We�begin�to�pray�and�share�Christ�with�others.�But�the�roots�of�who�we�are�continue�unchanged�and�unmoved.�Contemporary� spiritual� formation� and� discipleship�models� address� some� of� that� 90� percent� below� the�surface.�The�problem�is�that�a�large�portion�(below�the�dotted� line)� remains� untouched� by� Jesus� Christ� until�there�is�a�serious�engagement�with�emotionally�healthy�spirituality.��
